End of Thieves Guild - Nightingale Hall glitch? please help!

So I completed all the restoring guild quests BEFORE finishing Darkness Returns (final quest). No problem there. Karliah showed up, I talked to her, she talked to Gallus's ghost, I selected a Nightingale power, then left. Then I headed back to the Ragged Flagon Cistern. Brynjolf initiated dialogue, started ceremony, Karliah showed up, they all named me guild leader. I got the achievement, I got the new armor from Tonilia, I got the key and the amulet. So far so good, from what I've read online.

However, now Brynjolf is stuck in the "Sorry, I'm busy" speech, and Karliah never shows up at Nightingale Hall, the Hall never gets upgraded or gets the portal, etc. This is a MAJOR bummer for me, because I was really, really hoping to use that as my home base. I know the major glitch where Karliah never shows up at the Twilight Sepulcher is unfixable at present, but is there a fix for this particular glitch that I have? I really want the Hall to update properly and Karliah to show up there. I reloaded once from just before returning the Skeleton Key, and that didn't seem to fix it.

far as i know you never do upgrade the nightengale hall, would be a cool little base of operations if you could. If your referring to the thieves guild hall, you have to do 5 thieves guild side missions for each of the strong holds, solitude, whiterun, riften, and windhelm to get the upgrades to ragged flagon. after completing 4 missions in one of the strongholds, you'll be given a 'special job' and that will unlock one of the 4 upgrades to ragged flagon, after all 4 have been completed you can become guild master.

I appreciate the attempt to help, but no, that's not what I'm referring to. I've done all the extra quests and gotten the confirmation that I restored the Guild to its former glory. And I have spoken to folks online that said that Karliah returned to the Hall and the portal between it and the Sepulchre opened up, so unless they were yanking my chain I think it is possible. It just seems to be a really prevalent glitch. I've heard that on the PC, if you use the console to set the "Hard Answers" quest (the Dwemer Museum one) to complete, it can fix the issue, but that's obviously not an option for me. :(

I think they are pulling your chain at least for the console version, they have mods for the PC version so maybe there talking about a mod cause I just checked and there nothing else involving the nightingales after finishing the Thieves Guild

I think the only change is that you can change your aspect as a Nightingale but really nothing else and you can only change I believe once a day. If you have the perk in Sneak that allows you to blend in with the shadows that will collide with the aspect that does something similar

"On your first visit there is very little of interest to speak of inside Nightingale Hall aside from some bed rolls, two chests with some minor loot, and skill book. You can return later to find a few changes including a bookcase and nightstand with several interesting books."

"After you speak to Karliah, Gallus' ghost will appear and they will speak shortly before he goes to the Evergloam. Karliah, then, goes back to Nightingale Hall. "

"You can now return to Nightingale Hall and use it as a home if you wish. Karliah will also live there."

And under the bugs section of the same page:

"On the PC, 360 & PS3 this quest will halt (after you are able to receive one of the three abilities) and Karliah has spoken to the ghost, her dialogue says she will return to Nightingail Hall, but she seems to bug out, staying there for 24 hours, then ends up in "Snow veil Sanctum" where she poisoned you in the last quest. She also states that a portal will exist in nightingail hall, but none is there, in fact, nothing changes at all. Brynjolf shows up in the thieves guild (with his old thieves guild gear on, not the nightingail gear) but just says "I'm busy talk to me later"."

Hi, ogrimtitan I am equally as disapppointed as you are, in fact, I was the one who added that last detail you copied from uesp.net... I found your post here trying to find some update to this whole issue. Strangely I'd like to add that even though I finished "Hard Answers", it popped back up as a quest I need to complete again when I went to the dwemer museum in markarth, I was excited and thought maybe they had patched it, but after going through the paces, it's still broken :(

Interestlingly enough though, karliah wasn't bugged out in the snow veil sanctum anymore, she was waiting in the inn where you turn in the notes copied onto the parchment. After going through all that dialogue she walks off and goes right back to the veil. I find it hard to swallow that they haven't fixed this crap, and I believe they won't, someone will have to write a mod outside of bethesda to fix it. That makes me view bethesda as cheap. They did the same thing in Oblivion. Only thing is they grossed so much $$$ off of this game you'd think they could stop being stingy and pay their dev team to work out these bugs.

Hello, I just finished all of the Special Jobs and became the Thieves Guild Master. Karliah was at the RF for that event, but instead of going to Nightengale Hall, she is now stuck at The Frozen Hearth in Winterhold. I'm on the 360, and the only way I've read to fix this is to redo the quest where you have to copy the notes, then sit through all the dialog again. Do I have to go all the way back to an old saved game and redo the quest? That'd take me back 15 levels.

Update.

Went back and redid the Thieves Guild quest line. Got all of the Special Jobs done first. Then I returned the Skeleton Key, and....same outcome. Only difference is, instead of Karliah being stuck in Frozen Hearth, she's now stuck at the end of Snow Veil where she shot me.

Thats F-ed up.... I'm re-doin the thieves guild stuff now onna count my first game started freezing up... now I'm prolly gonna have to start over a third time onna count of this!?!?!!! WOW. if my thieves guild/nightengale stuff gets glitched imma quit....go back ti BF3 till bethesda gets the game right.

Well wel...im scared too right now ....i did the main quests first without even do any small or special job....now i already did whiterun and markarth special jobs and ill do solitude and riften today in order to be proclaim guild master and get the master armor and the key to the safe....ill cross my fingers it trigers my coronation .....and about Karliah ..i couldnt care less where she is in or where she lives .....as long as i finish the quest and get to be guild master im good with it ....

I believe its a hit and miss, Brynolf did give me the loop of 'Im busy' but sure enough when i did the last special job, Under New Management popped up. Was happy that it didnt break on me

Yeah.... I just want my game to work right... between my first and second play tru ( if you can call it a play thru as I had to abandon my first attempt due to freezing issues )I've spent around 560 hrs just tryin to build 1 character and make a go of it... A theif... I've avoided the main quest and all other quests, tried to limit my interaction with the game world, turned off auto-saves.. re-loaded when I've experianced graphical glitches....

All I wanna do is build my theif, do the thieves guild questlines, and have that at least work right....

Has anyone here had Nightengale Hall update and Progress correctly?

I've got a feeling that this bug may be underreported because no one realised how the questline is meant to resolve.

Most I can suggest is to post about Karliah and Nightengale Hall in thee 1.4 Patch thread, and/or make another thread about that issue until they take notice.
