Not that it makes a difference to the placings at all, but:

Zalphon actually got 8 votes for - Most Improved Fanfic Writer of 2009. They were voted by AyumiFan, mALX1, Chriso123, BladeMaster07, woolymammoth45, Ambrose51, Lord Dren and Verlox.

Darkom actually got 6 votes for - Best Fanfic Critic/Reviewer of 2009. They were voted for by Rachel the Breton, Chriso123, BladeMaster07, Malekith72, Ambrose51 and Lord Dren.

Rumpleteasza actually got 6 votes for - Best Ongoing Fanfic (Fanfics created before 2009 allowed). They were voted for by Winter Wolf, mALX1, treydog, myself, RemkoNL and Ambrose51.

Regardless, well done everyone, and lets see if we can make 2010 even better again. :)

That is correct, Zalphon got 8 votes and I only got 11. I think a lot of people didn't see Zalphon's other stories, even just since September of this year Zalphon has improved drastically. Because his stories are shorter, when people went to look at his current works they did not have the benefit of seeing writing he did even just a few months ago - it would have made a huge difference in the voting if they had seen the earlier stories. Zalphon takes his writing extremely seriously, and pushes himself to do better constantly.

Congrats to all! (and thank you)

Hooray for all!!!

I would like to pick just one nit, Solidor...

My dearest Rumpleteaza's epic is "The KING and I" and not "The KIND and I" (although Rumpleteaza is the kindest person I know on this forum, with MalX1 a very, very close second)

Congrats to all!!!

Wow, well done everyone :D
I'd just like to say I feel so honoured that the Dark Bloods tied for the best RP of 2009. I really wasn't sure how well my idea would go down so I'd just like to say Thank you to everyone who voted for the Dark Bloods.

Congratulations to everyone! :goodjob:

Thank you Solidor for organizing this effort.

That my own story was mentioned among the incredible talent on this forum humbles me deeply. :embarrass:

First- my thanks for everyone who voted. Recognition, whether in the form of these informal polls or as comments/criticism, means a great deal to those of us who write.

Second, congratulations to everyone who received votes or a mention. The number of different people who received votes is an indication of how strong the field was, especially for the fan fictions that were started this year.

Finally, I am so glad that so many of you found Athlain appealing and "real." I am humbled by your kindness to my poor, bumbling, earnest young soldier.

Well to be fair, I didnt count the votes I just re-wrote them. So you know, who cares? Doesnt matter any ways, Not like anybody wrongly got the award for anything :/

Plus I did it on boxing day 20 minutes before leaving to go to a boxing day party. Leave me be :stare:

I was upset to see Floyd Mayweather cancelled that fight, but can't blame him I guess under the circumstances. Did they serve punch at the boxing party? GAAAH, that was bad even for me, lol.

Wow, I was not expecting that when this whole contest started :) But a huge thank you to everyone who has voted, for me and for everyone, and an even bigger thank you to everyone on the forum, all the writers and all the RPers, for making this such a fun place to spend free time. I've seen a lot of real talent around here, both in writing and in roleplaying, but perhaps more importantly I've seen a lot of improvement. I'm just ecstatic that people can come here, never having written a story, and be greeted so warmly with so much helpful advice that they go on to return the favor in less than a year :touched:

So, a big congratulations to all the nominees and winners; as Chris has already said, I hope 2010 will prove even better :D

Big hugs all around :hugs: and trophies for the winners :trophy:

PS For the record, I most definitely put everyone else mentioned for the critic spot above me, and I'm not just saying that to be modest. Let's all work together to make the newer writers feel welcome then, eh? I'm hoping to double our numbers of "great" writers before the next contest swings around :P

You deserve it man, you've always been (in my mind) one of best critics on these boards. Cheers to you man! :foodndrink:

Congrats to all winners and also to those nominated.

It takes a massive effort to both RP and write stories. Without people making that effort the ES world would be a colder place. :foodndrink:

It's very cold... Ever go to Skyrim? Ever been hit by a Master of Destruction's frost spell? Ever licked a frost atronach? I have done none of these things, but I'd be colder than a EXTREMELY cold here.>

Congratulations to everyone, nominees and winners alike!

Thank you so so much to everyone who voted for me. The King And I has been my baby for a long time, and to see that people enjoy what I write is the most thrilling thing I could hope for. As Treydog says, it is very humbling to know people take pleasure from what you've created. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. <3

[/Gwynneth Paltrow] :hehe:

Edit: Also, thank you very much to Solidor for organising this.

Let's see here..... Fan-Fiction.....bobg....nope......bobg, nope, bobg, nope, nope, nope, nope, no, no, no, NO, NO, NO, NONONONONONONO. "Sigh."

Oh well At least I'm sure my friends mentioned me; OH YAH! here I am at the bottom of Treydog's list of authors that wrote something in 2009. "sigh."

"Anyway, it wasn't a waste of time. Angel, let me show you how to delete a bookmark from your web browser.' :)

I mentioned you Master Po! My post is on page 3, and here are the two categories I mentioned you:

Best Ongoing Fanfic (Fanfics created before 2009 allowed): Treydog, Rumpleteasza, D.Foxy, Bobg - whew this is the toughest one of all to pick, I would have to narrow it down to just Treydog and Rumpleteasza just because they are both still actively posting.

Best Fanfic Critic/Reviewer of 2009: I have to go with SubRosa - this was a tough call. Treydog (like BSparrow's, rare but really in depth and accurate), Acadian, D.Foxy Bobg (who critiques in a way that teaches you to catch the errors on your own eventually), Darkom95, Shades (always honest), and of course BSparrow - But SubRosa is extremely accurate and gears it toward the writers improvement of their skills, is consistant and totally upfront and honest. - on a side note, I would like to thank every one of the critics for taking time out of their own busy schedules to help others who don't have the knowledge (like me!) - you all ROCK !!

Oh cool, awards.

There should really be more specific awards for best character though. Best bad/good guy, best vampire, best wizard etc.

That's just way too specific, and having one single character getting two votes would be doubtful. Think about it, the Best Character Award still was a tie with people who only had two votes overall. ;)

Personally, I think the award should simply be which roleplayer has the best characters in general... not one.
