Endurance..

I am trying to figure out how Endurance contributes to Hit Points. I know that for each level of Endurance, you get +20 HP, but do you get more per level up over time or is it the same amount of HP at level up if you have any level of Endurance?

Would it be better to have higher Endurance at the beginning (not including the automatic +20 HP per level)? I know that with more Endurance, you can get more implants, that's besides the point.

I guess that the next is partially answered depending on how the above questions are answered. Would adding a point to Endurance later on in the game (say when you're level 20+) be retroactive to all levels before this? I heard somewhere that was the case in FO3. Say for instance, if you gain more HP per level up because you have a higher End, it would make sense to have this higher earlier on unless it was retroactive.

I just started with a new character and I'm at level 5 with 280 HP and 8 Endurance. I looked at the formula in the Guide Book for how to calculate HP but it doesn't really seem to make much sense. Heh Can someone clarify it a bit more. Thanks!

I think it adds 20 HP per level no matter what your endurance is at, i know going from level 29 to 30 with a 7 in endurance took my from 395 HP (with the life giver perk) to 415 HP, i think endurance just affects how much HP you start with and not how much you gain per level.

Endurance affects health at the start so if you have 5 End you will start out with 200 health but if you have 10 End you will have 300 health. Me personally I would just leave End at 5 and get the Endurance Implant later on.

Well that's why I was wondering if I should get the Endurance implant now or if I should wait. At level 5 and End 8, I seem to be getting around 5hp per level. I hit level 6 and had 285hp (the formula in the guide book doesn't seem to work out properly).

I was going to add one of my implants to be Endurance early on or maybe later take an Intense Training (which could give me 2 SPECIAL points since I get one for the training and one more implant) but I wasn't sure if I take Endurance now if it will give me anything outside of the +20hp that is automatic.

Does Endurance factor in with how many hit points you receive upon level up itself? Is there any difference between having 5 End or 10 End upon character level up?

I think you still get 10 more points for health per level but I'm not sure. The main reason I get the Endurance Implant is the Implants are based off of how healthy you are which that is factored by Endurance. You don't need outstandly high End unless your a melee/unarmed specialist.

Hit Points = 90 + (20xEndurance) + (10xLevel).

You are limited to the amount of implants you can get, by your Endurance S.P.E.C.I.A.L level, and you can not alter this by getting an Endurance Implant first. For example, Endurance 5 means you can get 5 Implants. While Endurance 5 with Endurance +1 Implant gives you Endurance 6 you are still limited to 5 Implants, as opposed to 6.

For the +HP, it works as such:

You will gain +20HP for each level of Endurance you have, from END 1: +20HP to END 10: +200HP.
There is also the additional bonus of (Level x 10)+. Allow me to explain:

Endurance 1, Level 1: 120HP (Initial) Health.
Endurance 1, Level 20: 310HP
Endurance 10, Level 1: 300HP (Initial) Health.
Endurance 10, Level 20: 490 HP.

I have found a formula on http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Hit_Points which you may criticise but my other sources say this is true too.

HP= 90 + (Endurance x 20) + (level x 10)

Hit Points = 90 + (20xEndurance) + (10xLevel).

Ok, so according to that, Hit Points are a set amount and you don't get more for more Endurance.
And if you add Endurance later on in game, it wouldn't matter because you just get an extra 20HP for the 1 level of End.

This is the calculation that was used for Fallout 3 and doesn't apply to FONV. If it did, I would have 300hp at level 5, and I don't, I have 280.
Unfortunately it would be great if it was that simple of a calculation for FONV, but it's not.

Maybe it's like this:
Initial 100 HP + (20xEnd) + (5HP x Level) = 100HP + 160HP + 20HP = 280
Start with 100HP + 8 End (160 HP) + Level 5 only gives 4 level ups of 5HP per level (20HP) = 280 ??

It does sound like it doesn't change though with the more Endurance that you have..

Did you increase your Endurance via an Implant, console command or Intense Training between level 1 and then?
