Do enemies follow you if you leave an area?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 3:12 am

Im attacking a fort and the enemies stay inside the fort if I leave it... If I return later and fight theyve forgotten about me being there a second before.

Is this a feature or one of my mods messing things up ? (i.e., open citites) ... Of course I would like them to hunt me...

I had a spider follow me outside one time. But bandits usually don't, Ill go back inside and their standing where they were before I attacked them LOL

I am not running open cities, or anything that would affect AI really.

Yea it`s weird. They hardly ever follow you outside. I went into the inner Fort then ran away out the door to the outside and no one followed me which is kinda dumb. Why don`t they follow?

But then there was one time I attacked the falmar elves (i think they`re called) inside a Fort and ran outside when my health got really low and to my shock he cam outside with me and killed me!

So i don`t understand what goes on with the AI coming and going. 95% of the time they don`t follow you out, but they just might!

If someone is determined to kill you, they will follow you everywhere, but the fact that bandits and such usually don't follow you out of their forts actually makes sense to me. They are attacking you because you are fair game that's walking right through their territory. Once you've leave, it'd be kind of a waste of energy to hike off after you just to finish the job.

Enemy NPCs are set to operated in certain boundaries, namely the cell that they are placed in. It is possible that the AI on most enemy NPCs is set to not allow them to "chase" outside the cell and to ignore us when we are not in their cell.

In fact, I have not come across a dungeon that I have fast traveled to where I am attacked before I go up to it. I usually appear just outside and the NPCs may notice me, but they don't do anything until I am close.

Yes, but I mean when you attack a Fort and kill the bandits outside (in the courtyard and on the walls) then go inside the Fort and run back out again. They should follow you out just to see what happened to the guys who were outside the Fort in the courtyard.

If you`re a bandit sat inside a Fort and some stranger walked in then ran back outside wouldn`t you be thinking, "What happened to the friends we left outside? Let`s get out there!"

It`s just logical.

To be honest I think Morrowind was at fault for this too until someone made a Mod that let them go outside if chasing you.

I hope someone makes a mod allowing enemies follow you in a logical way.... Should be too hard... I think this is essential... At least they could follow you a bit so they dont roam around endlessly killing other things :)

Frost Trolls can and will follow you everywhere.
I know that cos on my way up 700 steps (there is no way 7000 lol), the troll up there was decimating me and Lydia, Lydia died, and he was gunning for me, so I just thought, RUN, so I ran all the way to HH, turned around and didn't see him anywhere, assumed I was safe, went inside, went to talk to Arngeir and he came inside, starting running at me then before I really noticed him, the greybeards had shouted him to pieces lmao.
