Do enemies stop scaling up after level 30?

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 6:16 am

Just wondering if enemies no longer scale after level 30 or so. I played through the game mostly on adept and between level 10-30 I was having some difficulty; the difficulty would seem to swing wildly but was never too easy or too hard.. But beyond 30 I have notice that everything is getting easier; I even turned the difficulty up to expert and I am still having a much easier time now then I was during the mid-game level range. I am level 37 and have been mostly focused on major quest lines such as the final guild quests and civil war quests and they seem extremely easy. I haven't exploited smithing or enchanting either but no enemies I am facing offer me a challenge anymore including bosses.

Some do from what I've seen, bosses especially. Alduin was a [censored] to fight at lvl 43 still.

Definetly not. I took about ten minutes of die/load to kill a [censored] falmer shadowsomething.

EDIT: I'm level 42.

They continue to level until

50 for Dragons

44 for Alik'r

46 for Daedra

38 to 44 for Falmer

46 for Forsworn

36 to 50 for Thalmor

So yes, HOWEVER, the moment you clear 50 you start to out level everything

Is it just the major quest lines then? Because the final guild quests were ALL a joke on expert above level 35 and I've been working on the civil war quest which is also a joke... I am also playing on expert. Seems everything dies quickly and barely hurts me and I wouldn't consider myself overpowered. My enchant and smithing is only around 60

Well I am not sure where you guys are fighting but I can say with almost certainty the enemies in all the major quest lines do not scale beyond 30-35, because they are all an absolute joke on expert difficulty at level 37 and my character is fairly balanced and not twinked out.

The general statement we have from the developers is that level 50 is the "soft cap" - the game stops scaling at that point.

How does this work for constructs?
I entered a Dwemer ruin for the first time on my lvl 54 and encountered centurion masters.
They are incredibly tough and remind me of normal centurions when I was lvl 25.

Yeah, that's not true. I fought Alduin for the first time at 43 and his fire breath dropped my health to 0 within 3 seconds, and I had to hit him constantly with my buffed Daedric Mace all the time to even slightly drain his health.

Same with a Dragon Priest I fought, his spells could decimate me.

I'm fighting master and ancient vampires at level 45 in caves, they definitely weren't there when I was lower levels in the game. Their spells hurt a lot.

Just about everything is a set level so as you get higher things will (or at least should) seem a bit easier. things that make have one-shot you early on like Giants, Bears, Hargreavens, Frost Trolls or high level mages don't go above a certain level. Late 30's at the most. But there are still some big bosses like Arch Conjurers, Thalamor Wizards, Forsword Warlords, Draugher Deathlords or master vampires that reach up to the high 40's and early 50's in level so should be a challenge for a bit longer. The Dragon Aludin however levels with you so it's always going to be a challenge.
