Do enemies take fall damage?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:34 am

I'm asking because the other day I was riding towards Gutted Mine, to do Azura's quest. When I got up to the ridge, I was looking at the view (its spectacular) and got slashed in the back by a mountain lion.
I whipped out my trusty staff of Apotheosis and let it rip, blasting the lion clean off the cliff.
It fell about a hundred feet down. I went to go see if it was dead and it was.

Here's my question. When the spell hit the lion, I swear its Health Bar still showed a fair bit of health left. How did it die then?

Do enemies take fall damage like i do?

If they didn't, Killing the Adoring Fan wouldn't be such a phenomenon.

Yeah, and those cats are tough!

Funniest scene I've experienced... Orc Barbarian attacks but decides to run away after taking damage, and winds up running into a pack of wolves. Battle ensues... but a Mountain Lion on the prowl finds them and ... well, let's just say all were dead pretty quick.

That's not the funny thing, though. Afterwards, vicious Mountain Lion races off after detecting new prey... and starts playing pawsies with a couple of Giant Rats who just happened to be near the fight. Looked just like a kitty playing with a mouse, except larger scale...

Fall damage is my favorite way to make wolves and mountain lions die.

Watching enemies tumble down the mountainside after a powerful swipe with your blade is great—especially when fighting war-hammer-wielding behemoths as a small fast character. Not so tough now eh?

I believe so. I've killed a bunch of different Oblivion creatures by pushing them into lava.

Fall damage - oh yeah!

Try this......... lure enemy (creature or bandit) to a dangerous location (cliff top, path on a steep hill, bridge etc). Paralyze them for long enough to switch to the weak Fireball spell. Aim the spell just right next to the victim and fire. When paralyzed this relatively low level area effect spell wlll blow them right over the edge. If they recover, rinse and repeat! its also a good spell for manoevering dead bodies into desired locations!

Using the spell on non-paralysed targets just does them damage without flinging them off (unless they die instantly).

I've always found using a character with rather high agility and sliding/jumping down mountainsides to be a great way to loose any pursuing enemies, as they'll either get stuck somewhere or...well, die.

As everyone has said in this thread has said, yes they do. If you want to find that out for yourself, just find a rat and a fairly large hill. Those little guys always seem to want to try flying. Unfortunately, the laws of physics won't let them.
