Enemies that use stimpaks

Post » Mon Jan 25, 2016 7:57 am

If I'm able to find hundreds and hundreds of stimpaks, my enemies should too. Sometimes they do use it, but it doesn't seem to happen often. I remember in earlier games, they heal themselves a lot more often... Or am I thinking of the Elder Scrolls games?

But of course, this is a single-player game, where AI enemies *have* to act dumber than me in order to have a playable game. I was playing Elder Scrolls Online, where I could beat NPCs in seconds; but when I fought an online opponent with similar levels and skills, the fight lasted *15 minutes*, lol. In a SP game you can't have 15-minute fights all the time, lol.

I often see Gunners using stimpacks, especially the officers. In fact one of my favorite things in the game is to blow someone's head off in VATS just as they're about to inject themselves. I see the stimpack flying out of their hand and think "they missed it by that much".

It's a reason I never use stim-packs or chemicals in any battle.... and I do not have companions to do half the work for me.... do not use VATS either, I have to think quickly, I know, I know, it's a strange concept of playing the game.... some call it hardcoe... but it's more fun and satisfying, for me anyway, smile. Tactically played, figuring out the best positions to attack from and where to move to after the initial attack, it all becomes possible..... and far more enjoyable, for me anyway like I said. Big smile.

On the highest difficulty I see the enemy use stims all the time.

I notice enemies healing themselves way more than previous fallouts (did they even heal themselves in FO3, NV?)..

I think you are thinking of TES games, where enemy mages and such, use healing spells...

Play in survival. They use stims. Also, stims heal them at faster rate than yourself.

I see enemies use them pretty frequently. I'm playing on Survival, for whatever that's worth. I seem to notice Gunners using them more than Raiders. I don't recall ever specifically seeing any of the Children of Atom using one.

I hate how healing work in games, I simply hate it. It always feels unfair and unrealistic, in multiplayer games I've had matches where I am constantly fighting alone agaisnt people outhealing my damage, not to mention they can dodge, block, etc while they are getting healed turning fights into onesided matches. In single player games you have battles balanced around the fact that you have to take damage no matter what you do, and as such you are forced to get healing items or use healing stuff in order to play properly through the game. If it was for me I would eliminate healing forever in games and allow it only at safe/rest zones. But if you do that in an RPG that would also feel like you are removing important character classes and builds from the game, and I like how medics and clerics feel overall but I think they are poorly implemented, I don't think you should be able to fully heal someone during a fight, and if you can it should be extremely difficult to accomplish.

for me I would bet that about 75% of my deaths in FO4 was either while I was trying to inject myself with a stimpack, or while the stimpack was healing me I took more damage and ended up dead...I like how its not instant like previous games, adds a small degree of difficulty..

Also I'm not a huge fan of games that only allow healing in certain areas..works ok for some, but in a fallout game, that would mean no healing outside of a battle either, or the ability to heal up before a battle begins...

My character never uses Stimpaks unless he loots them off the corpse of a foe whilst involved in an ongoing battle.

Last night he went to loot a body but was killed instantly when a car fell on him from an overpass.

That's never happened to me before.

I wonder if one of the gunners on the overpass pushed it onto me.

Obviously a bug, a hilarious one, which IMO softens the blow.

Pun intended ;)
