My enemies want to be my friend.

Post » Fri Mar 25, 2016 12:02 am

On my new play through (serial re starter) I have concentrated on a well defended Sanctuary.

Now all the attackers want to be friends. No I say noooo!!!! Seriously though. Now whoever attacks sanctuary a few get taken out by the turrets or guards and as I do the rounds around sanctuary I will find random attackers either just standing around or actually running up to me as if I am their friend and master.

The guards and turrets totally ignore them until I either speak to the enemy or take a shot at them to aggro them.

Anybody have any ideas?? Where should I check in FO4Edit besides the aggression settings which I have checked and they are all set to Very Aggressive.

I do play as as stealth character in the wasteland and have every item and perk that would increase my stealth. Is it possible that that would effect a settlement??? Yeah Just rolling thoughts around.

Any input would be welcome.

Just to get the obvious out of the way you didn't grab one of the pacifying perks did you?

LOL. The only pacify perk I have is the weapon in my hand.

Is your settlement well protected by walls/fences? I think the AI spazzes out in such situation, and they sometimes just mill about outside the walls, and for whatever reasons seems to happen in Sanctuary most.

I have a live Ghoul hanging around Croup Manor - just stands there, doesn't run up to me or anything.

Can't shoot him, can't talk to him. Kinda got used to him now.

See if it lets you open trade with him...if so give him a tuxedo to wear, a silver tray to carry around and a monocle and he can be your butler. Actually wait...is he within your build boundaries in your settlement? if he is then build stuff around him! like some counters and a roof. Then see if you can position some wine/vodka bottles around him and some glasses too. Then put some stools near him and see if you can coax your other settlers into setting in the stools. It'll be just like Cheers or the bartender dude on the Love Boat hehe.

I have solved my own problem.

It would seem that an over abundance of turrets in a settlement delays their attack to the extent that once an enemy is inside the settlement they are recognized as residents until their aggro is reactivated by being attacked.

I reduced the number of turrets by 50% and now they don't even get passed the perimeter.

So it seems less is more is the keyword here.

I have had the 4 ghouls in the National Guard Training Yard building just ignore me. I could sneak, run, shoot guns, jump on top of them, teabag them, nothing. I could kill them though. Weird.

I wonder if there's a hidden trophy for successfully teabagging a ghoul.

And that worked?

I've seen the same thing several times at sanctuary. Raiders chillin, SM chillin, yao guai just strutting around.

I'm leaning towards bug. I had my sanctuary up to something like 544 defense at one point. I also put a double door with a Japanese style kill path to the main sanctuary with another double door at the end , being the only way into the inner Sanctuary. It is basically a path they are forced to run from the bridge, down the street to the main area, that zig zags back on itself multiple times with turrets raining fire down on them from every angle as they are in it. I use those wooden platforms, as they can't get through. Have to run the gauntlet and multiple turrets can rain fire on them the entire way. Hopefully allowing other lanes turrets getting shots through on them if they stop. Concrete walls and heavy turrets the entire way outside sanctuary. It kills any non teleporting/cheating NPC's that try to attack sanctuary.

I have seen guys trying to attack, run to a place I didn't put turrets, and try to shoot through the walls very thick concrete foundations I use as walls. I have seen guys bug out and not attack, or able to be attacked like you said. But eventually they all come out of it and attack and die. Even the ones who teleport in are in a small area, that is walled in, but allows access to all of the houses if you go down the correct path. I also have 31 settlers plus me and my companion shooting them.

I have played 4 play throughs to level level 50. 1 to 115 and never have seen anyone give up or become peaceful. I also have no pacify perks. Though I plan on getting every perk and will eventually get them.

So either your really good or it's a bug. If I were you, I would go with your really good .
