Enemies WILL respawn in dungeons!

Post » Thu Sep 22, 2011 11:54 am

Respawning is a good thing, IF it's not guaranteed to happen at the same time every time, and if the respawned contents aren't always predictable. MW didn't respawn named NPCs, but the random creatures DID respawn, which was a fair compromise.

The guaranteed automatic 3 day respawn in OB was far too predictable and ridiculous. Fear of the unknown is far more effective than a known enemy, no matter how tough, and not knowing whether something might be lurking inside again would be a HUGE improvement over guaranteed all/nothing.

Great, big surprise :celebration: :celebrate: :foodndrink:

It never ceases to amaze me why Pete would answer so many questions on Twitter, especially the way this guy/gal asked it :shakehead:

Why are people saying it was obvious when they did not respawn in Morrowind and they have markers on the map for dungeon completion?

I thought they would respawn, but now that Pete says it, I'm not so sure.

What kind of comment is that, are you calling Pete a liar? :cheat:

i hope only things that make sense respawn
im fine with bears, spiders and bamdits moving back into a cleared cavern
but if dragon priests and draugrs repetedly respawn in the same caskets and wall coffins, its gonna be odd
it fine if the draugr respawn, but they could just walk around instead of that
idk probably just me :cryvaultboy:

I assumed they would respawn, lol. I wouldn't have even thought to ask.. well its good to confirm everything we can, I guess :)

I wasn't so certain about respawns after hearing about the "cleared" markers on the map.

Does this mean the markers suddenly revert to "Uncleared" at some point?

Why are you celebrating? How often did you go back and revisit a dungeon in any TES game? I'm guessing never.

It would include minor loot though. You can only kill goblins so many times before you have pretty much gotten everything you can from them in terms of variety. You can only have so many lockpicks, gold coins, iron maces and crappy leather shields. I do wish that they randomized loot in chests though. Say you loot a chest you have to wait so many game hours before you can loot it again. I don't mean hitting the wait button and looting the same chest again. I mean you have to be actually playing for a few hours or something.

So they changed it from Oblivion? :(

Good question.
Maybe if the radient story givesnu a mission that is randomely located in a dungeon than it will look for a place u havent visited yet. If u complete the mission than the dungeon is marked as completed forever and doesnt get cleared. Maybe if u dont go down a dungeon for a radient mission and go all the way through it than it does clear later. Dunno.

Well, thinking about it makes me think that if u go through the whole dungeon than its considered clear forever. The mRker doesnt mean - no one is inside, but rathwr it means "u've seen every room in here". Somethinglike that i assume.

Great that the question was answered. After we found out about the "Clear" tag that is added to dungeons you've explored people started to wonder if they respawned. Good to know that they do. :foodndrink:

A bit obvious answer. If things didn't respawn then if we went on a rampage across Skyrim we'd be the only character in Skyrim

I probably went back to Rockmilk Cave about 300 times to harvest black bows.

I nevered bothered going back to a dungeon I had alreayd cleared. There was always a new dungeon to find or a new location to explore.

Btw pete doesnt specify what respawns but just says that dungeons respawn which most likly means that enemies + loot + traps will respawn

Am i the only one that think this svcks? Unless it's entirely new kind of enemies, like a new band of bandits occupying it.

I don't wanna go through slaying a cave full of goblins and then a week later they are all back there and as healthy as ever, if i killed them they should stay dead.

Theres over 150 dungeons why would i want to go back to old ones with the same spawn as before anyway? I'd rather them stay dead if theres not gonna be new enemies.

Hopefully Loot (Containers) don't respawn. Kills exploration if all you need to do is Find Easiest Dungeon -> Clear it out -> Wait 3 days -> Repeat til best loot -> Repeat til full of best loot

yeah, kills it a bit for me. I mean- if you empty out a cave- I could expect in due time it would be inhabited again- but not to the population it was when you first killed everything out.

On a personal note- I was planning on having my Ranger character empty out a cave and make it his home. Guess I'll have to figure something else out.

this
If I cleared out a cave I would like to see the effect that caused in the world by staying it clear forever, respawn killed dead island for me (zombies respawning every [censored] 3 to 8 minutes in the exactly same spot wtf)

Its the only thing that is a minus in my book
