Enemies you hate the most in Daggerfall!

I might have a phobia of werecreatures. In olden days, no one knew the cure for the diseases, and turning into one really svcked butt.

How do they move without musculature?

Stop-motion animation, usually. eheheh

Yeah, those skeletons scared the hell out of me. Nothing scared me more than the wraiths, though. Especially when you don't have a weapon that can hit them yet!

I found this journal of a kid from Daggerfall City that described the horrors that walked the streets at night. Wraiths, Ghosts, murderous people and cruel beasts would have free reign over those streets, only challenged by the bravest of heroes. Most of those heroes died, but one came along to rescue the city. Thank You, hero!

Nighttime in Daggerfall isn't that bad (even before you set Lysandus to rest) compared to Arena. Did anyone else find it incredibly painful and almost sadistic of Bethesda to spawn shield-and-sword-toting lizardmen (more like dinosaurs to me) as soon as the sun went down?

Then you had to frantically find an inn...

I'm with you on Zombies. Their shriek is so creepy, and they're a lot faster and stronger than you'd expect. I also find raising his right arm like he's hitchiking to be really ugly, as well as their general appearance. They're just blarg to me.

The HALT HALT HALT guards are painful too. Especially how they appear out of nowhere. You'll steal something, turn around, and nearly void your bowels when you see one.

Yes I am the same. The guards are just ANNOYING. Also, when your doing a low ranking dungeon for the Fighter's Guild and you run right into an ancient lich..... thats always fun...

Scorpions. I can't seem to hit them, and they always paralyze me.

Oh - and everything underwater. Not just the Slaughterfish (who are creepy as hell in Daggerfall compared to their later renditions), but all the skeletons down there. Seriously, I thought I was the only one who was always drowning in the water. I guess not many others do much better than I do.

I do hate skeletons though. Not hard to kill, but those unholy shrieks... how in the seven hells does a pile of bones without a larynx emit such a ghastly noise?

didn't you read preparation on corpses from morrowind? they bind the bones together with leather straps.

I've yet to encounter any water-dwelling monster, so thanks for making me worry on that front.

I've noticed Zombies are a popular hated creature, I have no problem with them as I have a nice, heavy sword. What I hate most, of course, are Dragonlings. What the eff? Dragons aren't supposed to be in High Rock, much less baby dragons. Their fire packs an annoying punch, and they take forever to die. Damn little pink flying lizards.

I had a random encounter with one of those between Privateer's Hold and Gothway Garden. Man, that was annoying!

Vampire Ancients, Daedra Lords, Ancient Liches are all annoying. But if you count that as cheating...

Nymphs with their giggle, and Centaurs with their 'ha ha! neigh!'

I mostly just dislike lichs, they have a stronger melee than you'd expect and if they hit you with their good nuke spell it'll take off a good chunk of hp and in a crowded room will easily lead to death.

At lower levels however I really don't like zombies. They're creepy as hell, and can kill in 2-3 hits since they're so strong.

the silent humans are the only enemies that pose a challenge throughout the whole game. the mage types at high levels are just obscene with their spells, they are the only ones that become super effective with disintegrate spells. the liches tend to kill themselves, the vampire ancients are a bit more formidable. never met centaurs in-game. or gargoyles.

want something funny? hack yourself to level 99, and let thief types wail on you. i defended the mages guild once, and the thieves kept hitting my body after i died that i kept making that death yelp and bounced up and down for a good 5 minutes before i got bored.

Centaurs with their 'ha ha! neigh!'

That's what those sound files are for? I thought they were unused clips from the enemy humans on horseback. Wouldn't know as I've rarely encountered centaurs and they're usually silent when I find them for whatever reason.

Skeletons are annoying, because of the noise they make, and because they take so long to kill, compared to other things. But my most hated enemies have got to be the ghosts. During my previous game, playing as an Argonian ranger, I had to go through a dungeon or two that was filled with ghosts. They're hard to see if they're not moving, and they paralyze.

And, oh yeah, Nymphs. I normally play characters with a pretty decent endurance, but those things took down my mage FAST. I think "Oh, it's only fatigue damage... oh wait. I'm almost out!"

In my first quest from mage's guild, I discovered a holy tome that's enchanted. So I took it to a town and had it identified. It's Tome of Free Action, so if I'm paralyzed, I just bring up the inventory screen and "use" the book, instant free movement! That book has now become one of my most valued possession in this game, against spiders, scorpions, and other creatures that paralyze you. I'm a dark elf, so now it looks like I've got the free immunity bonus due to that tome!

On topic, wraiths are nasty! I was outside the inn, just walked out without looking at the time. Noticing that it's night, I tried to go back in the inn, but a wraith popped up and smote me dead in one hit :banghead:

From now on, I will be careful and look at the time before venturing outside!
