Enemy Types

Post » Mon Jul 26, 2010 12:44 pm

Think about when you first played the game, you're roaming through the wastelands, you've already killed a few raiders and picked up some half decent weaponry and are starting to feel like Mad Max. You head into a new area, DC or somewhere and you see a new kind of enemy, he, she or it is coming at you, and you hit the V.A.T.S. button to get a closer look, and you think to yourself 'WTF is that??!!' before engaging it.

For me, the Centaur!! Completley grossed me out.

With FWE, almost anyone with a gun freaks me out. Especially Enclave troopers who are close to invincible with the mods I use.

Deathclaws are pretty scary when you see one for the first time.

Ditto!

Also, Super Mutant Gargantuans from MMM... huge body, tiny head. They kinda remind me of a kid I knew in high school. :bolt:

I was totally freaked out when I met a Deathclaw for the first time, but not really because of their fearsome appearance, but moreso because of a bug that occured on that occasion - the deathclaw was flying around and bouncing off rocks and stuff, and it was moving so fast I couldn't even see what it was. V.A.T.S. helped me figure it out, but I was still pretty confused by its fairly odd movement.

Oh yes, oh yes. Seeing a Gargantuan simply makes me shout "Screw this!" and run away as fast as I can. Also, at earlier levels, almost any Mutant makes me do this. Just playing a bit of my lv6 save game, I had to escape bullets when bumping into an SM squad... All my health bar blocks were gone, but I survived.

The only ones to give me "What is that?!" moments were Centaurs and Mirelurks.

But even having played Fallout, and recognizing what a Deathclaw was, the first one I encountered still gave me a serious "OMGROFLBBQ!!" moment- seeing one in Fallout's isometric view, and then seeing one charging at you in first-person, are very different experiences.

(Especially when the first time you run into one first-person, it's already snuck up behind you and your first warning is the roar as it swats your head off. LOL)

Centaur. It was dark and I had a concussion after encountering Sam Warrick at Farragut West Metro. I stumbled down the street and could just make out the shapes of my first Muties in the distance. I crouched down and a Centaur waddled around the concrete barrier and spit in my face. Rude!

That Behemoth that runs down towards you when
Spoiler
you pick up the teddy bear, East of Evergreen Mills.

Spoiler
It was my very first encounter with that beastie. I saw a teddy bear in a caged shopping cart. I pick it up, then continue looking around for misc objects. Then I turn around and see far in the distance a huge super mutant running at full speed in my direction. I froze for around 2-3 seconds, looking at the thing coming closer. I decided to ran and hide as fast as I could. My heart was pumping. That was a very nice encounter.

Ya, it's possible to get a deathclaw random encounter at super duper mart at a low level, that's tough.

When that happened to me, I think the deathclaw was almost dead. I easily took it out and for some reason thought all deathclaws would be that easily. I was promptly corrected on my first visit to Old Olney.

When I saw a centaur, I was like WTFH and got the hell out of there.

Centaurs without a second thought. They look just like the monster out of the film 'Slither'.

They certainly do.

I had encountered some Centaurs while I was making my way to Rivet City. No big deal, they are just another creature with a low attack range. However, when in Vault 92, as I was setting off the fire alarm that would free Fawkes, I turned around to see four or five Centaurs wriggling through the doorway, with one of them already at my eye level. :ahhh:

My heart skipped a beat at that moment.
