Energy weapons or Guns

Which will you be focusing on upon the release of fallout 4?

I'm thinking I may choose energy weapons

Guns, I'm not a big fan of energy weapons. Give me a sniper rifle or assualt rifle over a plasma rifle any day.

First playthrough, guns, energy weapons have there charm, but guns has the edge with there primal, raw sounds you don't get with a sci-fi pew pew gun.

But now we will have the ability to make energy weapon snipers and assault rifles.

I'd still prefer a regular sniper rifle. I prefer the sound, the look, the feeling of sniping down enemies with a silencer attached. I'm a long range ballistics gal.

I'm actually having a hard time deciding which one to use first. Normally I go with guns on my first play through, but those laser and plasma sniper rifles are really tempting.

Im semi similar, I prefer a long range, silenced approach, tho I prefer red dot or similar mid ranged sights, its more fun if the risk of getting caught is higher, and the consequences for being spotted is more direct.

I'll be using conventional ballistic weaponry. In a post- apocalyptic environment, most people will lack both the intellect and parts to maintain energy weapons; so they would tend to be used by more "educated" groups such as the Enclave and the B.O.S. Add the inclination of the B.O.S. to forcibly take advanced technology from people into the equation, and I figure they'd be pretty hard to come by. Just my take though.

since i play on consoles, I'm gonna go with guns

i like the sounds and raw feel better, plus the unclearing ash/goo pile bug has done me in on energy weapons

even if the unending stream of perma goo and ash piles has finally been fixed in the engine, it's just messed with me too much

i get anxious just looking at a pile "will it disappear? will it stay? will i always be haunted by this pile? is there a reason behind life?" XD

Superheated gas or tiny bolts projected by magnetic fields and light beams amplified by manipulating the atoms themselves versus throwing small things really fast?

What am i? A cave man? :teehee:

I really don't mind using either weapon.

I always tended to use both, with my weapon of the moment having more to do with my current ammo supply than anything else. I'm a pragmatist.

Still, in past games I've preferred guns for the most part. I suspect that was because in Fallout 3 the Outcasts made 5.56 ammo easy to obtain and in New Vegas I dealt primarily with the Gun Runners as my relationship with the Van Graffs was usually of the 'shoot on sight' variety.

-The Emperor protects.
-And having a loaded plasma rifle never hurt, either.

Energy weapons. Leave behind those retrograde primitives who use firecrackers to fling chunks of metal down tubes. Smell the plasma ozone and set lasers to burninate!

In Fallout NV the gaus rifle was my favorite sniper rifle, the anti materiel rifle hit harder but low rate of fire and hard to get ammo made it more of an special use weapon.

I'm hoping that they figured out ammo-consuming melee weapons. A lot of the powerfist weapons in FONV seemed like they should have used cells (or shotgun shells for the ballistic fist), but didn't. IIRC, some even had a SEC on the model.

I want to hear a SRB synth go to the armorer and say...

"I need a http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Plasma_rifle_%28Fallout:_New_Vegas%29http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Q-35_matter_modulator plasma rifle in the forty watt range."

Guns for the first one, I think. I want to make a pipe sniper rifle. Called SnipeyPipeyTM.

I might have a crack at explosives as a secondary combat skill too, if the crafting/customisation options are there for those.

Laser pistol in all likelihood.

Never been much of a fan of plasma, the projectiles are too slow and miss too often.

Here's to hoping the laser pistol stays viable throughout the game with the various options to mod it/shape it.

I went with guns in Fallout 3, so I'm going with energy weapons this time. Now that we have seen the crafting system in action, energy weapons can be as versatile and varied as guns.

Probably guns, as I like sniping. If there is a sniper rifle I can get early on that is an energy weapon, I might consider it.

Then don't use it at long range. You don't use a shottie for standoffs...

I'm hoping that projectile collision detection for plasma bolts is now a collision hull instead of a single point. That'd help with the hit chance quite a bit too.
