I think that the interview revealed the engineer as one of the top classes...it can change the command post bonus...that really makes that class 'the [censored]'

I am not sure if can change it, it feels a bit gamebreaker. They can upgrade and make the bonus more powerful.

Since the interview said that Engineers are all about upgrading deployables, a good portion of skills should be centered around that. here are some suggestions

Turrets:
- shorten the time it takes Turrets "lock on" to enemies
- increase turret defense
- increase turret damage
- increase amount of bullets in each burst (it fired in bursts on the CC vid)
- upgrade turrets to fire full auto
- deploy time shortened
- ability to deploy more than 1 turret at a time (it was said in an interview, every time you deploy a turret, your previous turret is destroyed)
- upgrade turrets to mark 'locked on' enemies on the minimap for a short time
- upgrade turrets to see through Operative disguises
- upgrade turrets to emit a small AOE aura, that increases the damage of nearby friendlies

Mines:
- increase blast radius, but decrease damage
- increase damage, but decrease blast radius
- increase amount of mines you can deploy
- upgrade mines to self arm themselves
- ability to depot remote mines
- ability to place mines on walls as tripwires
- upgrade proximity mines to spider mines, which will sense nearby enemies and home in on their position.
- time for enemies to disarm mines increased
- in addition to damage, mines release a flash-bang as well.

Selfarm vs what you arming it? It shouldn't take that long to put down a mine.

self arming mines was a skill you acquired in Quake Wars. I don't remember the exact time, but arming a mine took like 1 to 3 sec. - that's 1 to 3 seconds you are a stationary target.

Self-arming mines is actually a really awesome skill. It lets you maintain defenses in hotly contested zones, where otherwise you would have to wait until there was some peace and quiet before replacing your spent mines, or else risk being caught unawares. If enemies are gushing at your objective in a constant stream, three seconds looking at a wall feels like eternity. Also, self-arming mines makes Engineer more useful on offense, as he can then quickly set up traps around an objective his teammates are attempting.

Thanks guys most games I have played allows you to just drop mines. No need to arm.

Either way, I just hope people can't simply run past them, even if they're Light.

Well yeah, if you know it's there. If you actually avoid my mines that's fine. I just don't want to see people running through the explosion completely unharmed. Guess in which game that's happened to me. Go on, guess. :frog:

What I liked to do in ET:QW is put a trip mine around the corner from a proxy mine. The proxy trigger makes them panic and sprint, and they run into the inescapable trip mine.

I'm really no veteran. I just got ET:QW a week ago. Right now, playing with actual SD veterans frustrates the hell out of me.

yeah, you really need to play it on PC. Even if you play against bots, it will still give you a "feel" for the basic gameplay that Brink will follow.

That is probably a better idea.

With the recent vid i had to start thinking. If soldiers can toss ammo and medics can toss revives, will the engineer toss weapon upgrades? I had imagined they would have to stand next to another player and have a short action like one does when planting bombs.

No, because I don't think the weapon upgrade is a physical item, like ammo or a medkit - I think it is a buff, so they would need to get within range to use it.

Just bringing the topic back to life here with a question: What body type would you say is best to use with the Engineer?
