Then you have QW, where mines could be placed on walls and act as tripmines. Also, you didn't have to actually arm them - they would automatically arm after a few seconds.

By default the player had to arm them, it was only when they had the Level 4 upgrade that they could throw them anywhere and they would self-arm.
Also opposition engies could disarm them, from memory - although most preferred to just use a nade to remove them.

Btw i have no idea about mine detection either Chant.

I never said by default or not, I just said "you didn't have to actually arm them," which, as you mentioned above, you didn't.

Leaving this statement unqualified results in its meaning being that all QW mines self-arm. And that's what anyone who hasn't played QW would think, to read this.

Not really - it's all completely subjective. To assume that everyone who hasn't played the game would all think the same thing, is quite a bold statement.

Engineers. Those are the ones, who can deploy turrets, right? I'll most likely play as one of them, then! God, I love class-based shooters!

No.

H0RSE, we respect you for your omniscience about all things Brink, but I'm going to have to differ with you on how the English language works. If you say that mines arm themselves, and then you don't say anything to qualify or contradict that statement, you have just told us that all mines arm themselves. By way of comparison, if I say that gay men have lisps, and you correctly point out that a lot of them don't, I don't get to say that I was right because some gay men have lisps.

Really, it boils down to assuming that, when you say something, you mean something. If "mines arm themselves" is to have a meaning broad enough to include "mines normally require you to arm them with your pliers, but after earning the entire set of engineer skill rewards, your mines become self-arming", then there is so much ambiguity in the things you are saying about gameplay that we can no longer trust that anything else you say about the game means anything.

So, if what you said is different from what you meant, just amend what you said. We honestly don't mind if you occasionally make mistakes! We do it too.

This is the problem, and it has to do with my social anxiety.

A lot of you see "social anxiety," and think, "oh, you have trouble with public speaking," or "you don't like crowds." While that is a symptom of my anxiety, it is not the cause. One of the causes of social anxiety (one that I suffer from) Is always being worried about what people will say or think about you. Worried about them pointing out flaws or mistakes, or just making fun of you - in other words, afraid that I will make mistakes and be embarrassed or humiliated in front of others. I'm in a constant anxious state - hence, "social anxiety." So I keep to myself, and kinda "walk on eggshells," when I'm out among people. Conversing over an internet forum, makes things much easier for me, since there is no human contact, but when the situation arises (like above) when my flaws are pointed out - I enter kinda like a 'panic mode,' and try to justify things. You may see a minor mistake, I see a catastrophe, where everyone is laughing at me.

So having just played TF2, i wonder if the turrets will be upgradeable? Perhaps you could spec into a certain type of turret,

Shotgun, grenade or missile, flamethrower, have all been discussed but how about operative seeing turrets?

They would have to be weak or close range. Maybe a anti rocket attachment to your turret that had a long cooldown but would help the rocket defend itself. But this stuff i figure for a high lvl to have and perhaps speccing into one would negate the others.

Mines I would love, but again would be nice to spec into different ones or give different effects. Like perhaps an ability that if your mine didnt kill an enemy it would keep them stunned for a set amount of time.

Perhaps people would be forced to stick with either a mine proficient or turret proficient engineer.

New interview with Rahdo new perks allow to further buff teammate weapons.

I am thinking:
More damage
More accurate
More ammo capacity
Add bayonet?

I don't know about the bayonet, but the other three sound plausible. Maybe also faster reload speed and/or faster fire rate.

- More ammo was said to be a Soldier buff
- More damage is a Engineer buff
- Bayonet would be a weapon attachment, not a buff.

Sorry for trying to theorize but what do you think would be good for the Engineer.
