engineer's sentys

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 11:31 pm

Well one of the operatives goals is to hack and disable enemy turrets, In theory there will be places that the turret will cover and you can't sneak up on it, So the operative's disguise allows you to 'sneak' up to it.

Kind of like the Spy and Engineer dichtomy in TF2.

I suppose I can see that.Do you think it's an even trade-off for the inevitable "Here, walk into this turret's scan range" Spy checking BS that would surely take place?

Edit: Wait, I think we're confused. He is asking if the turrets will see through disguises, you're saying you hope so but your post after that seems to allude to the opposite..

I'm quite confused by that as well.

Imo, turrets should not be able to see through disguises. And from Wraiths second post I assume he does so as well. But his first does imply the exact opposite.

I would hope so.

I would very much doubt they would. It would totally undermine the whole stealth thing. It works fine the way it does in TF2. If sentrys can shoot you, what's the point in the disguise?

Yeah, this is pretty much how I feel. Also consider the stupid spy-checking I mentioned above.

Well, that's cleared up. I don't like spy checking either, to be honest. It's a pain in the [censored]. It leads to people getting confused and staring at people they suspect and shooting them a little bit. it makes people avoid their team mates, which is a detriment to the whole team-play thing.

EDIT: Holy crap! I did not expect the english slang spelling of that to be sensored! I am impressed

Well i assume opertives need to be beside it or at least close to it, probably behind it to hack it, emps will be used alot, level 3 will mabey be able to hold its own against a few people but a opertive could easily take it out with emp nades so it may be somthin you want to stay close by to and not leave it in a area where you think it can defend by itself.

Well one of my reasons in playing operative is to mess with the enemies mind. If they are avoiding each other it makes it easier for my team to win. Why buff your teammate when it could be Wraith in disguise?

I wonder if the opposite team can throw buffs to an enemy Operative who is disguised?

I don't think you can actually do that? If it did you should get 2x xp.

Yeah that's my point. I play Spy in TF2, and when I don't I'm always looking for spys. Makes it kinda crap that everyone avoids each other rather than stand a ground or defend a point or attack together. Thank god for no backstabs.

I think it would be pretty cool if you could somehow customize your sentry.

Like the paintjob or what it could shoot.

Since the game is designed to improve teamplay, how about swap out bullets for paintballs so you can tag the enemy that way they show up on friendly radar

Ummm...
How would paintballs do that? If anything they should be those pcp bullets or tracer bullets or w/e there called, but there used on armoured vechicles not living targets.

Also i would rather have somthing that can kill q target then use somthing that traces them and doesnt harm them at all.

If all it did was trace then engineers might as well be able to build radars .
