Operatives can fight against engineers; I'd go so far as to say it's their main purpose. They can hack sentry guns and machine gun nests, and their general sneaking around makes it significantly easier to ambush Engies.

That can be said of any class

id like to see some kind of sneak attack (garrote wire for instance) so you can kill someone while disquised - but have it clear that you're doing it so if someone on security sees someone choking out someone on security they'll know it's a resistance member in disguise

PS
my whole sneak up and melee then shoot a whole clip into them usually gets me killed before i can kill them

One thing I think needs to be fixed...

Either increase the time required for an Engineer to remove a Hack Box...or decrease time to do a Hack.

It svcks waiting almost 30 seconds to get almost 90% only to have an engineer remove that all in like 5 seconds.

I agree that the Engineers have a little too much control over the field, Don't know how much you can do to fix it though, other then you're idea I was thinking of switching damage boost and ammo supplying between soldier and engy, and maybe make it possible for the operations to supply rounds that do extra damage to the engineer's tool.

I just want an assassination from behind with the operative when disguised.

Maybe have it in his kit already, or a level 4 ability where you just have to melee from behind while disguised and you like snap his neck or something.

I think hacking could do with a slight boost, or Engineer removal of hackboxes slowed slightly, but not by much. Do YOUR job, don't try to change it so everyone's job is the same.

As it stands, Operatives can turn turrets against their owners, and almost completely invalidate enemy mines. But the best use for Disguise isn't "appear behind enemy and kill." That's not what it's about. You CAN do it if you're better at shooters than the other guy (and I'll admit, I once managed to wipe the entire enemy team as a Light Operative in solo play on Normal), but I don't recommend relying on it. When your teammates are making a push for an objective, use the distraction to chip away at the most important people on the field - aim for their Medics, and any mission-critical targets. Or do it the other way around and get the entire enemy team shooting you right before your teammates turn the corner - when the enemies are facing the wrong way, your team has an advantage in the approaching fight.

Your purpose isn't specifically KILLING, it's causing CHAOS in the enemy ranks. When they don't know who to aim for, and they're losing their Medics, or the guys they need for the objective, you're doing your job right, whether you survive the effort or not. Do what the team needs, not what you feel like. My latest trick for "WTF?"-ing enemies is to Disguise, join the main enemy group, and toss Caltrops in the middle of the group. SO MUCH free XP!
