Go enginners, GO!

Medics and Soldiers are the classes for people that want to support teammates on the front lines of combat.
Operatives are the class for people that want to disrupt enemy organization and go for a lot of kills.
Engineers are the class for players that want to help win the mission without being directly on the front lines.

Yes, there is a lot for engineers to do in this game - that's the whole point of the class. As an engi you're always running around upgrading command posts, building barricades, constructing mg nests, disarming bombs, removing hackboxes, repairing objectives, and buffing allies - you dont fight directly as often as the other classes do, but you still feel useful without the need to go farm a lot of kills or deathmatch people in the middle of nowhere.

Personally I like that setup - Brink gives every kind of player a class that fits how they want to play, without anyone being useless to the team.

I do find operatives a little less fun to play simply because they cant buff allies, though. It would be nice if operatives could give some sort of support buff to their teammates - just as medics can improve health, assaults can improve ammo, and engineers can improve armor and damage. What if operatives could refill supply? Take the transfer supplies ability away from medics, replace it with something else, and allow operatives to transfer 1 supply pip at a time to an ally, or boost an ally's overall supply max?

the way i see it, engineers should not be the counters to everything. soldiers and operatives should counter themselves.

also, when op's counter a hack box, it should be a reverse hack that stops the enemy hack and makes a  flash on their PDA, although more sarcastic looking.

AI? Who plays with those anymore? D: Old Skool FTW!

You seemed to miss some of the things (or rather, combinations) that make the Operatives so useful.

Quoted list for reference
"[censored] peoples feet gently with caltrops
Sneak behind enemy lines and tear things up
hack turrets, if they can get near it
Hack objectives (like twice ever)
Hack secondary objectives (i can only recall doing this once)
Sticky people, that will shortly be taken off well before it explodes
Are particularly good at stopping carriers while under disguise
Share some relatively useless intel
point people out after staring at them forever, duno how this is even useful, if i aimed at some one that long, and STILL havnt killed them... meh...
Firewall command posts
Pretty good at capping command posts
spot mines... or just go ahead and shoot the dang things "

hacking turrets (if they can get near it).
Spotting Mines.
pointing people out.

All of these things are made INCREDIBLY easy while disguised. Turrets are fooled by your disguise, so getting close enough is easy.
Spotting mines is also easy when you're disguised since you have AGES to find them behind enemy lines.
Pointing people out can save your team from otherwise certain deaths. If you're disguised, you basically get to do this nonstop for free until you decide to do something else and/or get caught (which I've never gotten caught intentionally).

EMP Grenades, don't forget those.

Hack + Control Turret?
................
So outside of the linear objectives, Operatives can actually shut down Engineers. We have counters for everything you silly Enjies can throw, and can blow ourselves up once we're incapacitated to boot :P

I really just wish comm hack and disguise were slightly faster. Also, bot ai which will be updated soon.

EDIT: except for ps3 users like me who will have to wait.

True, but it doesn't deter from the fact that they will generally be the ones needed most in any given mission, while at the same time you could go a match with out a single operative and not notice. Also, their stopping power, and ability to defend is on a 1 for 1 basis, a deal better then the rest. A reason people say they're op...

Except against a Soldier or a Medic, who are pretty equivalent forces to be reckoned with on defense, and everyone except Engineers is going to have the offensive advantage with the right upgrades.
