Enhanced Economy Conflicts

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 1:55 am

So I installed Enhanced Economy before realizing that I had already installed Living Economy as a package deal with FCOM (at least I think I did). Anyway, I would like to uninstall Francesco's Living Economy and replace it with Enhanced Economy if possible.

Also, after uninstalling enhanced economy, I have been left with a broken haggle menu. When I click haggle, nothing comes up and I lose access to the main merchant menu. Tips?

This is indeed possible. You must rerun the Frans installer, and now choose not to include LE.

From EE's readme: "Before uninstalling Enhanced Economy, make sure that your last save was NOT while a merchant was active (in its dialog or barter menu). If so, that merchant's gold will not be reset. It is also very important to remove the installed "Menu\negotiate_menu.xml", if you don't, your haggle menu will be invisible and therefore seem to hang the game while it waits for you to click on the invisible close button." :)

Sorry I forgot to mention that I did see that part of the readme, and was unable to find the negotiate_menu.xml file. Also, I installed EE using the omod method.

The path given is from your Oblivion/data folder, so the full path is "/data/menus/negotiate_menu.xml". But I see now that there actually is a typo in that part of the readme, as it says "Menu" and not "Menus".

If you installed EE as an omod, Deactivating the omod again should definately remove that xml file - unless you already had installed another omod that also installed the same file. Darnified UI does so, you don't happen to have that one installed (or a similar UI mod)? If so, OBMM knows that two mods "own" the same resource file and therefore doesn't remove the file when only one of those two mods are deactivated. In this case, if you delete the file manually, the haggle menu will revert back to the vanilla version. The best then is to look up the file with the same name in that other mod's downloaded archive, and manually copy it over the one from EE.

This is actually the main advantage of BAIN over OBMM. BAIN would know that Darn installs the same file, but a different version of it, and reinstall Darn's file when EE is disabled. The problem is that BAIN has no scripted install.

I do have Darnified installed actually.

I followed your advice and reinstalled francesco's but without living economy, then reinstalled EE. Now when I play, the details button has replaced the haggle button, but nothing happens when I press it. It doesn't lock up or anything, it just makes a noise and no menu comes up. Also, if I try to sell anything, it asks if i want to give it away for free.

I am running FCOM with oblivion xp, if that makes a difference.

Are you sure you are running the game through OBSE18b4 or newer (b6 strongly adviced)?

If you are correctly using OBSE18, can you confirm that EE writes to the console that it has updated values from its ini file? This shall be written to the console about 5 seconds after each savegame load. Open console and write "tdt" to see all such messages (and tdt again to hide them).

Nope, EE is completely compatible.

Btw, if the problem continues, please follow up in Enhanced Economy's http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1058568

Indeed, I was running the latest non-beta version of OBSE. A simple oversight on my part. Runs perfectly now! Thanks, TheNiceOne.
