Enhanced Lighting and FX + CoT

Post » Mon May 27, 2013 11:20 pm

Just a quick word of advice to everyone, i didnt know this, and Im sure some other people dont know this, but when you are using NMM and these two mods, for the love of god, put Enhanced lighting and FX DIRECTLY after the climates of tamriel ESP files, otherwise CoT will overwrite the lighting mod and your caves will not get the appropriate light FX. I just did it and there is a world of difference. Caves are still dark from CoT, but the torches arent blotted out by whatever filter is applied to them. There is still the issue of things being dark outside, but im not quite sure how to fix that yet.

Just to give you an idea of how much of a difference there is.

This picture is with CoT esp files going after Enhanced lights and FX

This is with EL and FX going AFTER CoT

Generally as a rule of thumb i follow BOSS' load order, but in this case they are VERY wrong.

If you think it's an error in the masterlist, go report it in the BOSS thread.

It might just be a matter of preference as to which effect the user wants, hence BOSS puts them in roughly the right area but lets you decide their relative placements yourself. There might be other changes when you swap that order, it might fix interiors but screw up water/transparency, for example.

It's good practice to understand how load order will affect the mods rather than blindly trusting BOSS.

Looking at your screens, I'd say it crosses the line from preference to bug. Lights that give off basically no light are probably unintentional :P

Not sure you know, but your not supposed to use the interior/dungeon lighting plugins from CoT with EL and FX.

Then the dungeons are waaaaaaaaaaay to bright though. It works well as long as you place it after CoT, very well in fact. Only problem now is outside at night, it kind of dims the light sources. Does Enhanced lighting and FX darken dungeons too? I know about interiors like inns and what not.

This happens outside at night too, the lights become reallllly dim at night, and i havent found a solution to it yet, except keeping default night settings, which is not acceptable. But yeah, i untintentionally found out the proper load order from ANOTHER lighting mod page, tried it out, bam, much better.....

Its not the purpose of ELFX to darken the dungeons (afaik) or other interiors per se but it does modify lighting in many of them. Also remember that the mod is still a WIP and not all interiors have been finished yet.
