Enhanted Homing Projectile Weapons

Post » Sat Nov 27, 2010 3:02 pm

I think they should implement a way to enchant our projectiles to being able to "follow" the target. IMO, it should require high enchanting and alteration skills . But, it firing such arrows should have some penalties like magicka cost, so we should be given an option whether to shoot homing projectile or not.

They could also add modifier to projectile range and speed via enchanting.

No to heat seeking arrows, yes to heat seeking spells
Throwing weapons that come back to you (think Thor) would be pretty awesome.

You mean on that wooden thing that looks like banana? When you throw it it comes back.

Be a cool enchantment, but it should be costly.

Sounds like an excuse if you can't aim.

Sorry, but I think this idea is very bad.

You mean a Boomerang right?
Yeah it would function the same, but in a Skyrim setting a weapon like Mjollnir would be more fitting.

And, what if you could use "auto-aim" to target vital body parts and cause different bleed effects?

Edit: About boomerang! It would be cool if we could take fruit down from trees with it. And, imagine a bosmer jumping on treetops and shooting guards with a boomerang!!! Hilarious!

No thank you. If they do have auto-aim and stuff, yay for those who like it, I'll personally never use it though. =)

Possibly more like a selective area of effect spell. If I remember right, in D&D (yes, I know TES isn't D&D :)), magic missile starts off as low level with only a few projectiles, and gradually levels up to produce a swarm of weak missiles which, if the targeted enemy goes down before they've all hit, veer off to do low-level damage to remaining enemies.

That would be more interesting than a simple enemy-seeking uber-kill spell, and would look neat without being overpowered. Also, it could be implemented so that you'd have to aim when you fired the spell off in order to give it the initial target for it to seek (otherwise it'd just fizzle out or fire off as a regular line-of-sight fireball).

Then maybe you should do the same <_<
As for why people are saying no, I suspect it’s really just a matter of opinions. Yes there is no reason you shouldn’t be able to, frankly it’s just stupid. A homing arrow wouldn’t fit the setting, and would look dumb. There is no better reason on either side of these kinds of arguments.
On topic I think I would be cool to be able to channel spells though weapons like arrows and swords. For instance as you shoot an arrow or swing your sword, you could chant a spell that sets your arrow or sword ablaze.

I think a minor tracking on fireballs and lightning bolts and such. Not enough that if you are behind a rock that it will get you, but all so not so much that if your aim is slightly off, it shouldn't whizz past the enemy like an arrow would, sort of an "auto aim." But the tracking would end about 5 feet from the target (or player) so if you dodge at the last minute it will miss.

On the other hand, I'd like to see shield spells actually stop or warp the spell, instead of hitting you and doing no damage. Like the energy from a shock spell warping around you, or a fireball "splashing" against an invisible wall.

We've had an arrow with a head the shape of a key, yet it still flew straight. How'd that fit in Oblivion?

I wouldn't mind it, or find it strange. Its magic. That said, these attacks would have to svck a lot of magic, or cost a ton of gold to get even a small amount or arrows enchanted with homming.

target guided magic: yes to some extent, with maybe a 50-70% success rate.

Lock-on magic: NO

Half the funn with bows is acctually hitting the target. I wouldnt like having the option of homing arrows.

I did. I made my statement with the first sentence and supported it with the next two. It wasn't pertaining to the subject of thread, but it was complete. I'm just trying to help people realize that one sentence(without facts or commentary) isn't an argument. The better prepared people are for debate, the more fulfilling a discussion can be.

OT: It's just not an idea that I care for within the Elder Scrolls setting. If it was added to the game, I would be more than happy not to use it :D

I don't need help giving my opinion on the topic.
You on the other hand, have made three posts without once, in anyway, participating in the discussion. Please, either drop it, or move it to PM. There is no reason to further hijack this topic.
