Enough is Enough - BUGS BUGS BUGS

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 4:45 am

Ok look Bethesda guys, I'm playing on the Xbox360. And while I love the game, I am REALLY FREAKING TIRED of all the BUGS that I keep running across that I can't effing fix, especially with the standard PC-tard "well if u wer on pc all ud have 2 do iz put a code on console."

Nonsense I've run into so far:
- A quest apparently related to the Bard's College: I found some jerk's lute in a cave while killing bandits. Now I lost 4 pounds of encumbrance to a lute that I CAN NOT DROP.
- Same thing for some jerk's bow that I found in the ratway underneath Riften. Can't get rid of the stupid thing. More encumbrance lost.
- A "strange amulet" from the "Blood on the Ice" quest: I refused to sell it, thinking that it would have use in some part of the quest later. Now I can't drop the freaking thing.
- Pelagius's hipbone. I've done the quest, got the Wabbajack, STILL CAN'T DROP THE STUPID THING. Another 1 pound of encumbrance gone.
- Those stupid "Stones of Barenziah." I've found 20 of them, can't find the other 4 and they don't come up on the map. End result: A WHOLE 10 POUNDS OF ENCUMBRANCE that I can't access because I can't drop the damn things.
- Sum total, I'm carrying 22 pounds of "un-droppable" nonsense. How do I know? I cleaned out my ENTIRE INVENTORY, dumped it all in a chest in my house, and checked my encumbrance with ONLY what was "quest items" that I couldn't freaking drop.

- Bugged quests that are "back" in my quest log as active. One of them is Red Eagle, which I finished but somehow got "restarted" (and can't be selected) after picking up another of those stupid books. Two others are generic "go here, kill the bandit leader" where I killed the leader, got the reward, and it just never left my quest log.

- I can't trigger ANY of the NPC's for marriage even when wearing an Amulet of Mara; apparently since I talked to the priest of Mara about marriages while he was preaching at the inn in Riften, rather than at the temple, the IDEA of marriage has been glitched out of my game.

Now PLEASE, would you start FIXING this nonsense? It's a single player game. Fix the @#%@#$^#@ bugged quests. And give us a marking on quest items that indicates whether they are quest items or not, and allow us to drop/store them if we want to!!!!!

OR, if you're not going to fix youre #$%#$ bugged as hell game, then GIVE US ACCESS TO THE CONSOLE so that we can apply the command fixes when we need to in order to fix YOUR stupid programming mistakes.

You mad bro?

it takes a while for M$ and sony to give bethesda the green light to release the patches. However I do agree with alowing us access to console seeing as both systems have access to a keyboard via usb on ps3 and that ittybitty controller thing you guys use

Actually all those quest items weight is = to 0, they just show they weigh something. Don't believe drop all your inventory in a house and check again. You'll find they don't.

Ok, first off none of those "quest" items actually take up weight, they just say they do, if you drop everything you will have 0 weight even with those quest items still.

Secondly, the amulet would be of use if you hadn't "failed" the blood on the ice quest. (I'm guessing you did, hard to tell from what you said.) I can't say more on this without a spoiler.

The hipbone is indeed a bug, as I was able to drop it after the quest.

These items clutter your inventory, but shouldn't take up any actual weight.

Edit: I see your bit at the end about them still having weight. Never seen this happen to anyone before, so I guess yours is indeed bugged.

I'm stuck with the inability to complete the main quest or the civil war. So much worse than the items that I can't drop and the quests that won't leave my list. I still enjoy the game, but I'm hoping for a fix to the Jagged Crown and it's pile of rubble in the way. That one thing should fix the rest.

If you find items that look like they belong to someone from a quest, just jot down a note and leave them alone, or save your game first before picking them up to see. I have four of those Stones of Barenziah and for the rest I've just been noting down where I've seen them, so when I've found all the locations I can go back and swoop them in one scoop.

- I followed the quest as indicated. So if I "failed" something, the Bethesda jerks designed this quest to bug, and I'm pretty annoyed by that.

Yeah, but it is an almighty pain in the ass.

You're right. That means you also shouldn't pick up books, since some of them become quest items that you can't drop. So don't pick up any books. That's clever! You know what else you shouldn't pick up? Those dragon claws that you end up having to use to open some doors. That's just silly. Why pick those up?

Just what quest is Giant's Toe for? Just as they are bugged as 'quest item', they suddenly bugged out and became normal droppable/sellable item again.

I know, and I agree on it. But it should have been possible to move them into specially flagged non respawnable chests in your own houses.

WHY THE HELL SHOULD I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY BE SEARCHING LIKE THAT?

They could EASILY have the game put a little (Q) or something next to quest items. Or give you a "drop dialog" on quest items so you're sure you drop them in a safe place (like in a chest in your house: I'd be happy to devote an endtable to quest items).

I must admit I've hardly come across any bugs at all on the PS3.

I've had one majorly crazy dragon that, for about 35 seconds, made my whole game go completely screwy - it slowed down unbelievably and just generally fcuked up, and the dragon, which was zipping round all over the bloody place, made a right mess of everything.

But apart from that and one minor bug which meant I had to complete a different quest before I could start part of the MQ, I've been pretty lucky I reckon

Oh yeah, that's one other thing: THREE TIMES now I have had to reload my game because one of those [censored] dragons KILLED AN NPC I NEEDED FOR A QUEST when I fast-traveled to the NPC's location to talk to them. Why are quest-related NPC's killable?????????

Oh I read it, but when I did the math your math didn't add up. You said you had 22lbs, I don't know how much this bow weighs, but my math says that it should be 15 + the bow, which we don't know the weight on, lbs if all those items were a problem. Though I just did this in my game. I have 4 giants toes in my inventory from the quest also have 16 Stones of B, Runed Lexicon cause after the quest I took it back cause it looked cool and a few other various quest items, including a couple of books ... my current encumbrance is 0/400 so either you missed your potions, which I wouldn't be surprised if you did or you missed something totally different.

For giggles I decided to pick up my potions I carry on a normal basis... just so happens I carry 21lbs of just potions, lol

No, you don't know what the [censored] you're talking about.

I cleaned out EVERYTHING. Started with Misc, worked my way up through EVERY category from the bottom.

22 pounds. 10 pounds of Barenziah stones, a bow, a lute, a sword, four 0-pound potions from fedex quests I haven't got round to doing yet, and a "0-pound Strange Amulet" from that bugged-as-freaking-hell "Blood on the Ice" quest that I can't get to identify even if I talk to Wuunferth now. I guess I know what they meant by "wrong" ending, I followed the quest to have Wuunferth arrested, then I caught the real killer by chance when he tried to off the next girl and I never "sold" the amulet when I guess the quest was "supposed" to sell it so now it's a "quest item" for a finished quest that's #$%#$#@ UNDROPPABLE.

there's a side quest you collect several items for one of the npc's, giants toe being one of them, i think it was three you had to collect, i've only had that quest once. that one is a annoyance as you can drop all the other items you need to collect into a chest or a container, just not the toes.

if your amulet isn't working, have you tried selling it off and going back to the priest and talking to him again to buy a new one? If your not already married he'll sell you a new one spouting off something about 'what did you do with the first one?' I gave mine to my follower to hold on to and he let me buy a another one.

The Lute, Flute, and Drum for the bards college ends up getting stuck in your inventory if you get the items before you get the quest.
