Entire PC crashes

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 8:15 pm

Entire PC crashes at random points during gameplay, always within 5 mins or so after start. I'm worried that this is going to damage my PC so ive stopped playing. Any idea what might be wrong, ive installed the latest drivers.

seems like the beta patch fixed the issue, either that or it was the hud color as that is the only thing that has changed

Are you inside the vault or outside of it?

Finally someone with the same problem, I am still inside the vault. I have updated to the beta 1.1.30. I filed a ticket, but the Admin Robot sent me the suggestion to do what I said I had allready done in the ticket request, and then said to contact the forum for futher assistance. does that mean that officially they have wiped their hands of it or will I get a reply from a humun at some point? Any way now it wont even get all the way to running it crashes right after I hit the continue button and confirm it. Like the other guy said it is crashing the entire system, computer just quits cold turkey. It got all the way to the little guy stepping out of the freeze pod or whatever, auto saved and never opened again. It did however play perfectly up to that point, no lag, no wierd color, or sounds all was well with the world, then it wasn't. I sent an MSinfo-32, and a DxDiag file on my ticket, who knows if anyone will ever take the time to actually read it not. If you need a specific item I have it on hand. If any one has any ideal's about a fix for this one , I'm listening.

If you are running Geforce driver version 358.91 then try rolling back to version 358.87. You can get your driver http://www.geforce.com/drivers. Just input your gpu and operating system and it will come up with a list for you. I just got done testing this and it hasn't crashed in over and hour. If you are running AMD I can't help you as I don't run any AMD rigs but you might try something similar. Hope this helps.

when running vanilla i was getting crashes in the vault, after beta patch managed to go two hours before i got a crash, then another. Gonna try the old driver see if that works, I'm gonna call Bethesda's main office number tomorrow, im [censored] sick of the auto-bot response, it is disgusting..

I'm sorry that didn't work for you. My game worked just fine outside the vault(exterior) but crash a lot in side the vault(interior). I swapped out for my old gtx 760, that I gave to my brother, from the gtx 980ti that I was running. This let me roam the vault just fine and my brother was able to use my 980ti just fine. We swapped again because we thought it might have been the power pins not connected properly causing lack of energy and the system to shut down. Well this wasn't the case and the problem persisted. I figured "what ever I'm outside the vault hopefully Bethesda will have it fix by the time I need to enter again". Soon I found that any interior space will cause the crash when I entered a cave. I gave up for a while but then got the idea to rollback my drivers. I haven't been back to the vault yet but have been in plenty of interiors. If anyone is having a similar issue, specifically with the 980ti, give my above post a try, and I am sorry that it didn't work for you Lucinator and good luck.

Well found a decent fix. Seems to have fixed the issue. I went into my Nvida experience center and set the setting for fallout 4 to optimal. That seems to have done the trick. Still not sure what caused the crashes but atleast the program knew what it was and disabled that setting.
