Entire shelter (90+) died overnight

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 7:13 am

So I opened my app this morning. And to my shock the full bars I had last night were all depleted. Furthermore all my guys were at 10% health with over 50% radiation damage. Before I could heal up even 2 guys a gang of Deathclaws jump in through the front door and 1shot everyone due to their low health. All in the span of 2 minutes online. After this I basically just shut down the app and call it a day. It's too painful too watch everyone who I trained and nurtured so hard die in vain.

So my question is: why does an offline game continue to run on through the night? Aren't we allowed to sleep anymore? Do we have to set an alarm every 3 hours? For players who invested in boxes it's really frustrating to see everything die in vain without being able to do a thing about it. Even when you have a really good balanced vault.

Your vault is not supposed to use resources once you exit to the main menu. To be safe, you should close the app entirely. This can be confusing if you just turn off the screen but leave the app open (and therefore still running).

The idea is that the exploration, production, and training timers can continue to run while the app is closed. I think they should have done it differently and have the game completely pause when any bar gets to the green line. You don't get the benefits of idle exploring/production/training, but it's better than coming back to a dead vault.

Because it wasn't offline. You left the app running.

So accidently not hard-closing the app is insta game over? I closed the app to do other things. I feel kinda cheated by this.

Just make sure to exit to main menu, close the app, kill the task and then, just to be sure, use a 3rd party app to find and kill the process.

After you restart the app the game will immiediately recalculate all progress made using the device clock to see how much time has passed.

And don't forget to back up the .sav file too. There's a nasty bud that makes it corrupt/empty and there's no cimong back from that! You have been warned!

NEDERLAND WOOOOO!

Anyway, try sizing down everything, if you don't want to start all over. Remove all "meh" characters and rooms first of course.

And also, backup your savegame. Religiously. Won't do you any good now, but it will in the future.

Here's how:

Get into your file system (depending on your manufacturer you might need to get one from Google Play, like ES File Browser) and go to

/storage/sdcard/android/data/com.gamesas.falloutshelter/files/VaultX.sav

where the "X" in VaultX.sav is the number of the vault in question from top to bottom in your savegame list in-game (so 1, 2 or 3)

Copy and paste that daily/every other day to a safe location or email it for all I care, but that way you'll lose little progress and/or boxes.
