Ents

I was wondering if ents existed in the TES universe. Or perhaps something similar existed?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ent

Basically they're walking trees. Who kill things. Violently.

Well, there is spriggans who could be regarded as walking trees but they're not nearly the size of ents from LOTR. besides those I don't know any.

I totally forgot about the Spriggans! Thanks for that.

Anyone know if they can become as big as LOTR-sized ones? Or are they restricted to shrubbery size? :P

WoW! Sounds interesting. Do you know of any specific literature that explains them?

I don't recall if there's any specific literature on the subject, but I think one may have been featured in http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/danceinfire.shtml. I'm not sure; it's been a while since the last time I read it.

There are Gnarls from the Shivering Isles. They resemble a small ent much more then a spriggan.

They are specifically referred to as 'trees' in http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Bloodmoon:The_Ritual_of_Trees and the lines
"The First Trees are gone. Travel east and find the one who has stolen the Seeds. Beware--he who has the seeds, controls the trees. Plant the First anew."
which refers to a rickling surrounded by a 5 spriggans. Yes, you have to kill things 16 times.

Also, the Hist; they're not motile, but apparently they're potent enough to pwn Cyrus the Restless and create the Argonians

Admittedly, pwning Cyrus isn't that hard. You can't stop the Hoon-Ding so you step aside, then swipe his leg. :P

You guys do know Cyrus was turned into a Gremlin in Redguard, right? And Dram put him in prison after hitting him with a force bolt? I wouldn't lump too much praise on him for having a good weekend in the game (the game events took place in two days, right?).

A... Gremlin?

Huh.

Man, I wish it was possible to run that game on current hardware. It was a fun one, and my time with it was so short.

Man, I was so excited to finaly see a Hist in game in Oblivion. I read so much about them, and they seemed so cool. But when I finaly saw one, it just kind of stood there being all... tree-like. I thought at least it would talk.

One detail that the members of the Blackwood Company overlooked is that the word 'Hist' in the Argonian language (that is Hist) can refer to just about anything when used in the proper grammatical conditions. The Argonians that the Company captured and tortured into revealing the location of the Hist could truthfully point to any random genus of tree. In the end, the Company brought back a rather ordinary swamp cypress, which resulted in the Blackwood Company getting intoxicated with exotic turpentine.
