Environment Ideas

I have been playing games since Commander Keen and Doom. The one thing I have never seen in any games is a random weather effect. Left 4 Dead 2 came out with a simulated "dynamic weather effect." I thought it was going to actually be dynamic, but all it is is a random downfall of rain on specific levels. If Brink wants to really capture a unique world, then I propose that a Random Weather Effect be placed. Simply, this would mean that the weather would be random but not sporadic. Example would be a rain. but it wouldn't transfer from rain to sunshine to rain to sunshine, it would rain, then possible let up and sprinkle, and possibly downpour and after some time finally clear up. If the effects are random but yet predictable. I don't know how else to explain it. If anyone can help me explain my idea please do.

Well, sounds nice but I doubt it. I think they will have specific, maye scripted, weather for each mission. The same thing with daytimes and so on... You will have scripted changes from dusk to night, depending on how far you advance through the map/level/objectives.

if this were added it would be nice for it to affect gameplay. for instance those big SMART jumps can only be made without it raining or you will slip and lose some health. or heavys trip over a stick if they sprint lol(just kidding,or am i?). but than again we look at how much this would slow down development of the game because its not just adding rain falling from the sky they have to adjust how much so it wouldnt distract the player and also what style of rain. plus since soo many people are into the games customisation of this game it would hurt them to get there rags/armour wet.

I also brought this up a while ago.
Weather and a day and night cycle increase the game's replayability. Besides, when it rains, the map gets darker and more places will have limited view. I think its a nice addition to improve the overall game experience.

Like he said this has already been brought up next time please use the search function instead of creating a thread on something already existing http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1112196-weather-day-and-night/
