Erikur (The Dainty Sload)

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 11:27 am

So 2 patches later and Erikur is still somewhere in the middle of the ocean utterly inaccessible. If any Bethesda QA team is reading could you please throw this towards the top of the queue, its a simple one console command to fix it on the pc, and thus shouldnt be too hard to hack it to work on the 360.

I'd really like to be able finish this quest i've been waiting damn near 2 weeks for this to get addressed as is.

Thanks,

A unhappy customer.

Join the list mate, Bethesda are not making any friends with this DISGRACEFUL release. I for one will NEVER buy a Bethesda game on release again and refuse to play my copy until a few more patches come out as i do not want to have broken quests like alot of people have. That is if these patches work and don't totally destroy the game like patch 1.2. DISGRACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't mindlessly rant. I'd like this to actually get addressed. Also if anyone knows any workaround to this that don't involve spending hours trying to get just the right angle on a backstab animation to fall through the world I would be greatly appreciative.

This is a great game and I'll forgive the graphic bugs and other various non-game breaking ones but this is literally a show-stopper.

Obviously many players have this problem. Erikur is in an incorrect position. This is a bug and unfortunately this bug was not fixed with the last patch for the Xbox 360 on new years day.

I was also quite frustrated but there is a solution. Namely Bethesda has kindly provided more bugs that can be used to bypass the Erikur bug.

What do you need to do?

Well, Erikur is in solitude, not in Skyrim. In solitude you can not find him because you can not reach him. I assume that the developers must have made a mistake with Erikurs coordinates.

If you leave solitude and enter Skyrim the game loads the new environment. Once you are in Skyrim you can not find Erikur because he is not in Skyrim.
So stay in solitude.

The position on the map is correct. To reach Erikur you must reach Erikurs coordinates in solitude. This however seems completely impossible. But it is not.
You need to get below solitude, so to speak in an area below the surface of solitude. This is possible because of other bugs.

You can find videos how to do that on YouTube.
Please note that there are several videos describing how to get below solitude.
I recommend the video with the title "Skyrim Glitch Under The Map Out And Solitude (Quality Test)". It has a duration of 7:15 minutes.
Please check it out yourself.
This video does not describe how to reach Erikur, but it describes how to get below solitude.
This is the easiest way I could find to do it. All other explanations to get below solitude are far more complicated.

After you have reached the area below solitude, follow the mark and you will reach Erikur.

It will probably take you a few attempts before you will manage to get below solitude. But once you managed you will notice that it's not too hard. Please keep in mind that you will have to go there twice because you will need to report back after the job is done.

Important!
Once you've found Erikur, please approach him carefully. He is standing in the lake with the water up to his chest and there is risk of pushing him deeper into the water, which will prevent you from talking to him!

I guess this is somewhat relevant, so I didn't want to make a new thread for this.

I am right now trying to start the Dainty Sload quest. The quest has already been assigned to me by Delvin, and luckily Erikur is in the Blue Palace (or his house, depending on the time), so he's reachable. But when I talk to him, he doesn't give me the dialogue option for the Thieves Guild quest. Anyone else have this issue?
