No error crash to desktop upon loading of any saved game.

Post » Fri Dec 06, 2013 2:46 am

No new mods installed prior to this behavior change. I cleaned it up with TES5Edit (exactly as instructed), verified Steam files, and installed every unofficial patch.

My game is not heavily modded, but it would be a pain in the ass to start over. There is no error message, nothing, just a CTD no matter what save I load. It was acting fine for hours and hours.

Did you happen to remove (or stop using) any mods recently? I'm asking, because save game files get scripts and data hard-coded into them and when mods are removed, which can lead to an immediate crash to desktop.

Another thing to check is your mod load order. A program like http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6/? will correctly sort them, so that they load in the correct order. The latest versions of the Unofficial Patches (2.0.0) changed the order in which some files need to load too and BOSS will fix that issue as well, assuming you don't already use it (or another program) to sort your mods.

Is there any way to clean a save from those scripts at all?
