Error 0

Post » Tue Nov 02, 2010 7:18 pm

I've installed Daggerfall, the free download, twice now. When I try to run the game after installation, it says I have the error 0, without explaining what that is. Any attempt to run the game after that says I have a critical error and must reinstall (which I did). I followed the instructions .pdf file to the letter with all case sensitivity respected. I don't know what the error is or how to get rid of it.

Download from a different site and then reinstall. If you got it from Bethesda's page there's a very good chance the file is corrupt.

Why would there be a very good chance that the file is corrupt if I got it from the Bethesda website? I guess I'll try it again, though I don't know where else I should download from. Thanks for the reply.

Look for it on Google. Fileshack or Filefront should have mirrors for it.

Bethesda's servers are somewhat notorious for giving corrupt downloads out (for the older games at least; I'm not sure about anything else they have available).

If it was corrupt wouldn't the archive have problems unpacking?

Yes, it would.

Pilo_T, error 0 usually means the PATH entries in the z.cfg are wrong, which probably means that you mounted and/or installed the game wrong.

Most of the time, but not always. I've had many corrupt archives that extracted with no problems, but upon execution they'd error out. Re-downloading would solve the problem.
