Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 11:05 pm

I have just built my self a new pc. I ran the Fallout NV on the old system without any problems. But on the new system I start the fallout and klick "new game". Than I see the indro video but when it shoud start it crashes, No error messange exept for "windows is looking for a solution".
And an other odd thing is that at the auto detect for the graphic shows "SET TO LOW".

My system config:
Win 7 64 bit
Asus Rampage III Extreme
Intel i7 950
12 GB DDR3 RAM
Asus Radeon HD EAH 6870

nVIDIA sold Geforce 6800s six years ago that are now only able to run with cards from the borderline zone between business level, and gamers Mainline level, which is "Low". The Radeons with similar numbers are much newer than the game is (the included VGA database in the launcher is about three weeks to a month "older" than the release date, minimum).

Two years ago, when the Fallout 3 game was new, the Geforce 6800s were still at that same general level, since the Dx9 graphics that the game consoles stopped at is an effective cap to what the multi-platform games can look like.

Anyway, it has certainly appeared that Obsidian managed to break the connection between Dx9 APIs and the newer Dx10 / Dx11 video cards, however, the HD 46n0 / 48n0 cards seem practically unaffected, unlike the Geforce 8n00 and newer Geforces.

Friend, that vidcard is pretty new.
This game is still sorting out issues with ATI drivers (or should I say AMD).
Point is, nVidia SLI guys are already happy while ATI CrossFire guys are still struggling...
I know you aren't running XFire but it could be a week or so before they get you ATI guys sorted out.
Even AMD themselves are still developing the drivers for your vidcard.
Haven't you heard - early adopters are always on 'the front lines' of technology, and can generally expect to be inconvenienced in the beginning...
(You could say that about this game in general - we all should have waited a coupla weeks, heheh)
Patience!
Nice rig BTW.
But I must admit, I don't understand why anybody would buy ATI. The software svcks! svcks big-time.
