Since Tul will attack you when you reach the farm, just kill him anyway. You never actually "save" him. If it's just the two of you in the bedroom and you can close the door, it should be safe to just swing away. If there are any witnesses, try taunting him into attacking and hitting you first. Save before trying either way.

Try taunting him into attacking you instead of pickpocketing him. Also make sure he actually hits you and causes some damage before attacking him. Taunting may not work on the first try. If his disposition drops to 0 but he doesn't attack the you will need to bribe him a little to get it back up before taunting again. You should be able to get the bribe back after he's dead.

Another option would be Command Humanoid spell. Cast it on Tul and he should follow you again. The spell may wear off before you get him to the farm, so you may have to cast it several more times during the trip.
