Absolutely love this one. I love the realism in the flaws of the character, from the bumped nose to the aged chin underflap. It's perfect and inspiring for my own character art.

I don't have anything recent. I'm trying to study landscapes and such, since I'm not very good at them. I'm also thinking of getting a tablet eventually. I've suddenly wanted one; so I'll wait a while to see if the pining wears off. It svcks because my mom almost bought me that gigantic Intuous tablet for Christmas, but I went on and on about how I found a tablet unnecessary when she was asking me about my thoughts on tablets. Poo!

Elephants can play soccer and paint things! Though only one shot made it in the goal and that was without the keeperphant.

I was just going for a nice little nighttime theme. It worked out well for the most part, but my subconscious had a little fun with me on the moon though. Look, and look closer and you'll see. :P

Am I the only one working fully digital here? XD;

Nope :)

Here's pimpage of new images to bump this thread;

http://rhineville.deviantart.com/art/Musical-King-173350253?q=sort%3Atime+gallery%3Arhineville&qo=0
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll also use this opportunity to post about other art sites as well; Someone years back gave me a link here in one of the ES Artistry Threads to http://www.conceptart.org/forums/ and it changed my life. I went from some guy doodling while studying graphic design in college to a guy who can (almost) work in illustration. The website itself isn't anything special, it's the people and atmosphere of critique and learning. There's a lot to be gained by popping your work in the critique section, starting a sketchbook, joining some activities, and giving and receiving honest crits.

Now, I'm not saying "go there instead of here" because this place is great too. The critique is a lot more honest than it used to be in ages past. With CA though you just get a larger amount of perspectives and the possibility that one of the pros will pop into your thread and offer some crazy good advice (happened to me a few times and it's soooo great) there's also a huge wealth of knowledge hidden away in there.

So anyhow yeah. Just thought I'd post this, maybe someone else will follow the link and turn out different because of it :)

Again, Rhineville's works manage to inspire awe. And possibly envy, enmity and embarrassment for one's own works. But still! Great work, all 'round. Personal favourite is the dark elf done for WoTC, albeit the musical king is also very nice. A fine highland / Dark ages bard style, right there.

As for my own works, not done much aside the comic. Have managed to complete lineart for one of the pictures I posted here, and done some basic colouring. No shades yet, 'tho.

Quite excellent. Haven't seen a lot of your stuff in recent times, having quit dA (again) and not showing up on CA the last few months either. It might actually be easier to see a jump in improvement that way; at least, these works seem to be noticeably different (in a good way!) than previous ones I've seen. Methinks I like the first one best, nice composition idea.

Olaf Merchant, nice to see some works from you too. Exquisite hair :P The little picture of the guy in the background is a fun addition to the picture :D

Obligatory updates from me.. been all over the place in terms of what kind of art I want to do/like doing. As usual :P My stuff hasn't really been fitting into CA's norm so I guess that's why I wandered away from there recently.
Anyway, couple of examples of the stuff I've been doing:

:laugh: ah, that particular watercolour doesn't have the pencils in it -http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm270/Aiylah/IMG_0951.jpg was my first attempt using them (apart from the dinosaur :P).
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm270/Aiylah/IMG_0480.jpg is that surreal piece I dreamt of - didn't turn out quite like in the dream but I blame fuzzy dream memories and distortion.. partly anyway :lol:

Pretty cool, looking forward to the colored version, if you get around to it.

Coincidentally, I just ordered Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? last night.

Looking good! Do you want me to add the link to the incredibly epic list of ours? ^_^

As for my own art - I haven't done much as of lately.

I wrote two unrevised short stories though.

Thanks much. Both characters are beginning to be somewhat shrouded in oscurity of video game history, but I felt inclined to add Dr. Wright to the picture due to Hecubah's (from the game 'Nox') 'exquisite hair', as you put it. ^_^

A Megatron, and painted some http://paradox-me.deviantart.com/#/d2wzbv8.

Like the painting. For the shadows I'd suggest using darker shades of the face colour, rather than using grey (on Link more notably). :)

I took a walk through this park in Iceland a few days ago, it's called 'Lystigareurinn', or 'The Botanic Garden' and it's really beautiful during the fall. :)

I'm not really a photographer and those were taken with a crummy Samsung IT100 :meh:

Cool stuff. I don't really think your material or angle of your renders are the best for showing off your work though. It'd be nice to see more angles in general, and the dark black shiny material hides a lot of your work. Guns are very technical and would have very sharp highlighting - right now it looks more like it's been wrapped in plastic.

And it's funny, I rarely ever go to this forum but when I do this thread is always on the first or second page. Anyway, some updates from me.
