ESO Previews 2714

Post » Sat Feb 08, 2014 5:02 am

With the Press embargo lift from 2/7/14 please post any new articles, and comments that you have here. I will try and update the OP as more become available - though once beta opens I may fall behind. This can be a dedicated thread.

Ugh. That Tom's Guide one. "Developer Bethesda has yet to announce specific system requirements for Elder Scrolls Online." Wrong and wrong.

Also: OMG! Those articles clearly say today's date! ESO must be released today!

Sorry buddy, couldn't resist. Love ya really. ;)

This one here is one of the worst reviews I've ever read: http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/02/07/the-elder-scrolls-online-beta-is-absolutely-nothing-special/. In the very first sentence he says he has "profound antipathy toward the Elder Scrolls franchise." You know right from the beginning the review will be hyper critical and nitpicky and the things we TES fans enjoy will be the very things he doesn't.

Imagine reading a review of a new Indian restaurant you might want to try and the very first thing the reviewer says is that he/she has a "profound antipathy toward Indian food". Are you gonna trust what is said about the restaurant or the food? I mean wtf.

Why a review like this is even allowed by massively I don't know. I'm not familiar with the sight, so maybe they regularly have people write reviews that have no business writing them?

Haha! You're a legend Pang. They even removed the 'Bethesda' reference.

I'm in closed beta and it is not a big problem - I will not tell what I have seen there. But just curious why there is NDA.

For me also some negatives are obvious positives:

"Levelling slows to an unrewarding crawl, and gear progression with it. When the game steps up in difficulty, you haven't earned enough experience or gold (for the rather expensive consumables and armour repair bills) to be able to deal with it, and that slows you down even more" - that means that game is not some trivial "beginner mode", but has some challenge.

At the end of the day everyone who gets to play in beta will be able to make up their own mind. All I'll say it was enough to make me pre-order as fast as my hands could hit the link.

Does it matter how he opened his article if everything he wrote was true? Think about it. I am a HUGE Elder Scrolls fan. And cough* cough*
