I am gonna quote the moderator here I totally agree with him. it boils down to Priorities figure out where your priorities are
If Talaran uploaded a picture of the megaserver, and we all saw just how big and expensive it was, people would quiet down about paying 15 bucks.
I bet it's mind blowingly large.
The moderators are just regular members here. We just have access to more buttons to lock threads and move posts. Sometimes we'll hear a couple of hours in advance when something major is going to happen; like when they opened the Fallout forums. Otherwise we hear things when you all do. Sometimes we find out information on the forums from other posters. As far as ESO goes, we have even less to do with Zenimax; the only reason we're helping with the ESO forums is because the forum is here for right now. When the official forum opens they will have their own moderators.
It is the same price I have paid for most of the MMOs I have played in the last 15 years, the price is fine.
and quite honestly you guys are doing a pretty good job I feel I have been sneaking round these forums for about what 3 years now? and I have never seen much of a problem
Same here, being a PC gamer, I am used to the subscription fee model, however, it is a relatively alien concept for console games. There have been a couple console MMO's, but they have never hit critical mass, so I can sort of understand where they are coming from, even though I disagree. The only exception would be Xbox One one. I think it's so crappy that a person has to buy the game, then buy an Xbox live subscription, then pay the subscription fee. While I could afford it, I wouldn't pat that on principle alone.
None of those other games include customer support hired to deal with stolen accounts 24/7.
99.9% of Xbox One users will already be paying for live gold no matter whether they have ESO or not you don't have to pay a new subscription for Xbox Live Gold for each game so that is really non-issue!
I too would probably be scoffing at paying $15 a month for game access. If it was still 1998 or so. However with WoW working on its, what, 10th year? And it was $15/month at the beginning too, even by then the standard. Sorry, I simply don't get why people are up in arms about what is by now very much an old-hat issue. I'm frankly astounded it's still so low, if you haven't noticed the prices on most everything else have gone up, but good ol' MMOs remain the same low rate. Yes, some games were $2 or so cheaper possibly, but they came with restrictions too.
I can understand if $15 is out of your budget. Believe me, you're reading a guy that was flat-out homeless for over a year, long story, so I know all about being broke. But you know, when you don't have the money you simply do without. Sorry to sound harsh but it's true, games are absolutely luxuries. Take comfort in the fact that your money is going towards your kids or your spouse or your infirm parents, or whatever your need is, which are more important than games, and I for one am glad you have your priorities straight. My hat's off to you, and we'll welcome you into the fold when you get on your feet. (And I'm not being condescending either, there was a time about 8 years ago when I lost my job and had to kill my CoH subscription, among many other luxuries, for 8 months.)
I hope that they charge $45.00 a month on top of the $60.00 purchase... Just to irk some of the cheap skates in here...
All kidding aside if you don't want to pay the sub fees, play Rift... Its F2P... Or play GW2, no fees at all.
I think 99.9 is a little high, but I know the attach rate is high. I just think it's a crappy practice(on MS's part) and I tend to put my money where my mouth is.
I hope they're at least paying you for watching these forums, because you may only have to lock things, but you'll be staying occupied with all the hate flying around from impatience. xD
Full time job there Tala.
They should keep ya.
Either way its not Zenimax fault at all for the Live Gold charge and if people are buying a console just to play ESO they might want to consider a PS4 since its the better option considering the lesser of 2 evils.
I'll bite
What does $15 worth of content look like?
does it look like a 3 hr movie at the theater? probably but you won't get any snacks
Dinner out? Yes if you like Fast food
New music? Not even an hours worth at an average of 3 min per song and a dollar a piece.
As far as monthly fees, UO started at 9.99 and went to 14.99 after a bit, EQ1 started at 14.99 and the MMOs that followed used that price too. According to inflation calculators we should be paying $20 a month in the year 2014.
No one owes you access to their game, games are luxuries, if the price is too high find another game to play or another hobby entirely.
We have been paying 15 bucks a month for premium MMO's because its a fair price. If you cant afford 50c a day roughly for hours of entertainment and free content updates you should not play MMO's plain and simple, you dont wanna pay dont play
EQ1 started at 9.99 went to 12.99 then 14.99 within the first 3 years I started playing it in april of 1999 and I still have those online invoices on my account lol
Yeah, I've posted elsewhere about this, but I remember in FFXI early on it was $12.99 a month, which gave you only one character. I seem to recall others costing $2 extra per month. A large number of players had at least three, as that allowed you to have one per home city which in turn gave you access to playing the market, and there was a fourth high-level city too. Eventually the game cost $18.99 a month.
My mistake then, I didn't jump from UO to EQ when the price for EQ was that low.
In all honesty id pay 30 $ a month if the game was fully GM'd with major content updates monthly,
I might pay that much because it would keep a lot of the kids out of the game and make the game world a better play to play in.
