ESO - Steam - Dev. Important.

Post » Sun Mar 09, 2014 2:17 am

Big hello for the whole Developers

We have less then one Month time left befor the release starts and i get crazy because i cant find a way to buy a steam Version of ESO.

I wish Elder Scrolls Online fully integrated in my Steam, a Place where all my over 300 Games are in. Im a big Elder Scrolls and MMO fan,

ESO is the first MMO what let me feel excited, a feeling that i had last before the release of World of Warcraft.

Many People asked about a Steam PreOrder over a Year ago, theyve done that every few weeks again and again but no answers yet. We know

the release Date, we know the Game is finished and only needs the final tests and fixes. I know that many People use cross Platforms and cross Hardwares

like Steam, Origin, Uplay, PS3, PS4, X360, X1 and PC. Some are loved some are hated but i know that many many User prefer Steam as their gaming Platform

on PC.

My Situation in playin Games is limited, specially for MMORPGs, my Friends are all on Steam, my Payment options are only accessable through Steam. The only way

i can play Elder Scrolls Online is through Steam, the only way i can hold monthly fees for MMOs is through my friends on Steam. I followed the process of the Game for years

and begged that it gets an Steam release. Now i really Fear that this will never happen, or it happens that late that i can forget to play with my Friends on the same Progress as

they do.

This is a pleasing Message to you the Developers to release it on Steam at the time of the official release and dont forget us. Im not in a financial good state to aquire everything

like others can and my payment options are very limited. I dont want to go more into the detail because its to personal and im sorry for that.

Ps: Sorry for my bad english, its not my Motherlanguage, so please be Patient. Thank you very much

Unlike you I'm always happy when I have the choice of NOT buying from Steam. Games open up slower via Steam, I get annoyed about the promo windows that open when I close down a Steam game and the Steam overlay has also messed with games of mine. Just buy direct from the developers - no need to line the pockets of a 3rd party, in my book.

Edit - I'm not sure I understand why you couldn't use Z's payment options and why your Steam friends couldn't join you outside Steam. None of my business really; may just be convenience, I suppose.

So you can buy it on steam on releas, but you can't buy it online from the Zenimax store because of your financial state?

Also, even if you had the game on steam, you would still require to do monthly payment to Zenimax and not to steam, no matter what payment options you got in steam.

I might be reading it wrong though but this is what i am reading.

Anyway, it will no be on steam and also don't see why it should be. You can buy the game from the Zenimax store and download the launcher.

I expect it will be on Steam, but only for purchase.

You download the launcher through Steam, but after that it's all independant from Steam. Much like a lot of MMos that are on Steam.

Just add the game to your library as a "non-steam" game and you can use the Steam overlay and still be connected with steam friends.

I think he meant that on steam there's some way that his friends can pay for it for him, that's how I read it anyways.

@ SaibotLiu

Exactly, i dont have a Bank Account, i dont have a Credit Card and i cant aquire online payment methods in my Area. I dont live alone, my Situation is complicated and to personal to tell it everyone. I live in a type of complex with IT connectivity, big Server complexes and not everything works, most of my steam integrated Games works well even if they have their own Launcher. Im not a specialist and i dont know how this all works, the only Thing im sure about is that Eso will only work here if it is integrated in Steam.

Star Trek Online, Marvel Hereos, FF14, work

World of Warcaft after i moved doesnt work

Eve Online dont worked until it was integrated in Steam

Dont ask me why i have no idea, i only live in this Building and i dont know whos in Charge or whats going on

Although your situation is unfortunate, it is a very special case and not all of these can be remedied. I'm having a hard time finding work myself and working multiple avenues. Pursue a stable income and everything else will stabilize. Good luck.

Did i say that i didnt have a stable income, youre the next who missunderstand what i mean, i live in a building under a big IT concern and i must respect the rules of that concerns online connectivities. I work there and live there and i cant go somewhere else because of this. Thats why i said my ways are limited, financial situation is complicated because i dont have access to the Default methods and restrictions.

The only way to solve this, Steam release, what doesnt mean Steam exclusive, only expanded like UPLAY, Uplay sell Elder Scrolls Online, implemented in Uplay but with ESO launcher.

So why Uplay and not Steam ?

You probably havent gotten answer on this because marketing probably doesnt know yet. Maybe not, but working for a big company myself, the general perception of big companies is that they have some grand scheme or master plan, more often than not this simply isnt the case. Perhaps they will have it there on launch day, maybe you will have to wait awhile before it shows up on steam. My guess is that they'll have it there, eventually.

Maybe, i hope so, i got the Chance to work and live there, it was like a dream come true and it takes me two years to get the rights to use steam and their implemented launchers. That costs time and money to get all the permissions but it is still very difficult. But youre right maybe it comes later but why uplay, uplay is nothing against steam this drives me crazy.

Anyway thanks for all your patients, still 3 weeks left lets hope the best, thanks.

Ps: Is there any way to contact Bethesda, Zenimax or someone of these important People for Support ?

Sorry for the previous misunderstanding. Your life and situation sounds so secretive and interesting though.

I believe ESO will be on Steam, perhaps a couple months after the release. Just an opinion.

The game being on steam will have no effect to your situation. It will only give you the launcher which will still be separate from steam, it will also not change your financial situation. Steam has nothing to do with anything you listed. Did you even try the beta weekend for the game to see if the game would work? There are other options you could use to have your friends pay for the game and time.

No problem i must be secretive because of the confidentiality of my Company, its ok and not new to me. Ill give it two weeks otherwise i start with plan B, i dont want to miss time

and loose Progress. ESO is my shining star i only read good News about it and i dont want to miss a second =)

Ps: i found a way for the Support maybe they can bring a bit more light in this Situation but i think they have the same restriction and rules like me.

ESO will be on Steam. Love it or hate it, Steam offers an unrivaled online presence that includes a clientele that is quite fond of "no steam = no sale".

Keep in mind that all of Zenimax's other subsidiaries sell their games on Steam and keep in mind it's currently available on the competing (though much smaller) online digital retailer, Uplay.

Same goes for Origin, love it or hate it, having an online presence on these digital retailers can only help bring this game to a larger customer base.

I don't think it will ever be on steam unless it's free to play. Even then it's unlikely.

@Getphazed

If you dont understand my Situation then you dont read my posts or you dont understand my words because my english isnt the best, doesnt matter you can be sure if it would be that easy

i had found the solution myself. The only Thing i repeat for you is that i underly restrictions what makes things different to impossible not from the financial or connectivity aspect, but thanks.

Then ZOS is making a mistake. They would be cutting off their financial nose to spite their face.

Even if it were on steam it will be no different than it is right now. It will have no real integration with steam, basically you will just be able to purchase the game and download the launcher, the launcher will still run separate from steam. This means there is no reason for it to be on steam other than to sell it to those die hard steam devoted fan who cant live without it. There are plenty of MMORPG out there that prove steam is not a necessity.

Just looking at most other big MMO's, they are separate from steam and probably do not want to split their profits with steam.

Then explain ESO's presence on Uplay.

If you personally don't want it there, that's fine. But that means you want ESO to fail.

So you said only steam games work on your computer because of some connection issue, and you can only pay for games through steam, so i think i understood everything you said. But the game will never be fully integrated into steam the way your thinking.
