Essential for the game: rolling

thats not my point tho. i was just using mirrors edge as a reference to say that rolling isnt really disorienting.
my point is that sliding would be completely ineffective.
you go jump a one story drop and try sliding once youhit the ground and then contemplate how wrong you are while your staying in hospital
people arent fussing over rolling because they want it in game to look cool!
it is because they know what theyre talking about and know what rolling is actually for. and therefore know why even contemplating replacing it with sliding.
im ok with sliding along the ground in fact i'd be a annoyed if it wasnt in the game but sliding after jumping from height is ridiculous beyond belief

now your putting words in their mouths, cuz they did want it in the game because it looks good.
just read the earlier posts, they want to roll, and they want to see it happen in 3rd person.

we know rolling is more lifelike, but brink isn't going for realism, otherwise we wouldn't see a HUD, the operatives couldn't change bodytype when taking on an outfit, etcetera

I also felt like the game was made just for me haha.

But yeah, in parkour rolling is only necessary for a drop higher than about 8ft for your regular male, for a light male I'd say about 10-12ft, so I wouldn't expect to see rolling in the game anyway. If you drop further than around 15ft, without sliding to lose momentum (which is essentially rolling) I would expect to be downed.
