'Essential' status is forever....

Not sure if it's a spoiler or not, but to avoid complains - if you finished the Skyrim Civilwar quests it's all good, if you haven't, I don't reveal anything that would ruin your gameplay or the quest line and it's actually kinda obvious - but still, I'm talking about things that you are supposed to do after finishing that Civil War Questline :) SO don't tell me I didn't warn you...

So I chose to (ironically since I'm a Dunmer) help Ulfric against the Thalmor and the Imperials (because I hated High Elves more :P). Now after I finished and talked with the general (forgot his name) and asked what else I can do, he said that if I visit an Imperial camp killing the Legionnaire would be excellent. So I'm going to one - killing everyone.. BUT OH WAIT! The Legionnaire is apparently essential because he's probably an important character if you chose to help the Imperials and not Ulfric. So I'm thinking "Maybe it's only him" and I go on with trying to exterminate another imperial camp but nope... Same good ol' essential status prevents me from killing the Legionnaire....

Now why isn't 'Radiant Story' involved with this? its whole purpose was to replace people who were suppose to give you quests in case they die... So if I kill a Legionnaire DURING the Civil War quests but not the rest of the camp - he should have obviously been replaced by another soldier who was raised to the rank of legionnaire. If I exterminate the whole camp even better, they won't come back if I'm in an advanced stage in the Civil War Quest or maybe come back but with smaller forces if I haven't began it yet and just felt like killing some Imperials and if I'm to exterminate them and the rest of the camps DURING or AFTER the Civil War quest he should obviously not be essential :/

The legionnaires, or the stormcloacks if you chose to help the Imperials are useless after you win so they should stop being essential...

Is there no way for the programmers of Bethesda to code the game into taking away the essential status from characters who are not needed?

I loved Morrowind's message when you killed someone but also understand how people could have gotten pissed off from not knowing the character they just killed was essential to the MQ before they killed him/her. However, combined with Oblivion's star that would have been perfect!

If someone is essential, the character will still be killable but he/she will have a star on his/her head meaning that you should keep them safe and that if you kill them it's your own fault and you cannot complain about them....

So long story short, essentials annoy me. They can still be essential during a quest line but when they lost any value and will not be of any help anymore, or help the prophecy come true - they should be able to die... :/

The only problem I see here is that you can't kill the Legates or Stormcloak commanders in their camps, AFTER the war is over.

Everything else is just plain silly to complain about.

THIS just about explains what I felt.
