I know that there are a lot of people that are begging for stats, and I really don't know why.
Will the inclusion of stats make you a better player?
If they never put up stats, will you stop playing the game?
I just don't understand the whole thing with people's compulsion to track their own stats,so if someone can help me see the light, let me know.
I am a statistics kind of guy - but not for selfish reasons. I feel like it gives me a competitive edge and is an added feature. I mostly compete against myself or against challenges. I like ribbons, awards, medals, and unlockables because it adds another reason for the re-playability of the game. Maybe I am also shallow and like to see real numbers to my accomplishments.
Some like it because they do show off their numbers to friends, but for the most part, it has become something expected.
I love playing Halo: Reach and can mindlessly play it for hours. But I get excited when I see I am close to an in-game challenge - even if no one else would ever see it.
My friends and I have already started to get bored of the same missions and same results (I am in no way saying other FPS Team Deathmatches are better at all, though - I get bored of these easily.)
Honestly, Brink is a decent game. And the reason I have not thought about turning it in for another game is because there is planned free DLC and the promise of something more.
If there is no stats page, there really is no reason for me to keep playing. I've already gotten two characters up to level 20 and did what I could with the game.
This could have been a rental for me.
If keeping track of your stats isn't your thing, then it's a feature you don't have to look into. Although I hope that it doesn't affect your gameplay for the worst when the page comes up.
