Eureka! quest. Is This another bug?

Post » Sun Sep 05, 2010 8:51 pm

So i went through the whole game putting up with all the lagging and freezing etc now im on the eureka quest and i killed all the legion guys at hoover damn and i now need to leave to head up to the legion base but when i go to leave the door tells me i require a key.

So basically im stuck in hoover damn forever. I really find the the freezing and all that a minor annoyance but when ive been playing the game for about a week and now I cant finish it thats a big annoyance.

I have the same problem. I am playing FNV for 90 hours now, I'm at Level 30 and I'm stuck in the Hoover Dam!! The two doors in the Visitor Center which leads to the outside Hoover Dam cannot be opened (you need to have a key, which is not the one Lt. Moore is carrying) and the roof access is just non-existent. I have no idea what is the problem, but I'm sure it's not occurring everytime you do the Eureka! quest (because it's the second time I've tried it, but the first time I was not strong enough so I've chosen to continue leveling up in the Mojave Wasteland until I was level 30.)

It's a shame to have such a bug in a such important quest (you can't even finish the game!!).

Also, I've tried to reload an old save, but the doors were already "locked". Seems like it was like that for a long time now.

Hoping developers are reading this, because I'm pretty sure this is one of the biggest (I mean, the most important... you cannot finish the game, damnit!) bug you may encounter in FNV. I'm not angry at Obsidian Entertainment or Bethesda Softworks, I'm just kind of disappointed of such a lack of "polish", if I could say. It wouldn't have killed anybody to release the game a month after to fix most of the bugs (the game would have received better reviews, too...).

Yeah, just joined the forum so I could do a reasonable search. Googling doesn't find squat **** on this problem. Wiki barely mentions it.

But yeah, I'm 88 hours game time myself (xbox 360 version btw), on Eureka (the last mission on NCR path) and now stuck in this f***ing building with seemingly no way out. Nice, nice way to "end" the game... With an end game breaking bug. *flail arms*
I guess it's related to the quest before it or something. Sadly, my earliest save is IN hoover dam before accepting Eureka, and the doors... ARE LOCKED... :swear: :banghead:

Hoping whenever the mythical patch of fixing is released it will fix this crippling issue, because I would really like to finish the game seeing as how I AM AT THE END! Ugh, and I thought Fable III was broken... :brokencomputer:
Meh, I'm gonna facebook this bs.

On that note, I end my rant with a quote from Caboose (RvB)...

Your toast has been burned, and no amount of scraping will remove the black stuff

(current translation: Fallout is broken, and no amount complaining will remove the epic fail bugs!)

edit note: this makes 3 serious bugs I've run into now. First was getting stuck on on the map unable to move. Had spent about an hour and half exploring the mojave for locations, and fell off a hill and stuck falling. Hour an hour of frustration, enemies came into sniper range, companions moved near me, and I VATS punched them in the face which knocked me back and fell to the ground. Second was doing the NCR quest with The Kings. Having finished the side mission for The King, and selecting help from Hsu, Pacer for whatever reason would not attack The King. Mission could not be finished (due to the Hsu side quest not finishing, and even using my favor to end the violence didn't help) without turning the entire gang against me. Finally resolved by triggering the Van Graff mission, and killed Pacer as he was walking back using a Stealth Boy (took several tries to do it without turning Freeside against me). Spent a day trying to resolve the problem as I wanted to use diplomacy. At least I was able to proceed.

All I can suggest is,

If you come up out of the power plant on the stairs and exit the door into the visitors center, you will be facing the visitor center desk. The double doors to the right are the exit shown by your map icon markers.

If that's locked, (unless it's a glitch for you) then maybe you have not killed all the legion in the power plant. If you haven't, maybe check your map markers again. If they are showing the door back to the powerplant, that's what the deal is. If the map marker is showing the exit door and it's locked, then I don't know what else you could do.

I haven't seen or heard this one before this thread. I would check again just to be sure I haven't left some legion guy cowering in a corner.

Actually it's a bug related to the previous quest, with saving the president I believe, as my backup save was right after the mission, but before I accepted Eureka!. Inside the dam though, so I'm screwed.

I did try every thinkable alternative. I went back and did the optional quest to "flush" out the legion guys, killed every legion member I ran into, nothing. Then I realized "hey, I was outside when I had to turn the valve for that optional quest!" It's not considered outside in the Mojave though, so I was unable to fast travel anywhere. Even jumped into the water and tried to swim away but was blocked by an invisible wall.

Personally I think they should find some way to make the console controls like on the PC version available on the xbox/ps3. I'm sure if the game is installed to the harddrive, there would be a way to make it work. So many problems could be resolved this way.

And make fast travel available while jumping or falling. I mean, there's really no valid reason to be blocked from fast travel while jumping/falling. "OMG, I fell off a building, quick! fast travel" So they don't break a limb... They still have to deal with the rediculous loading times to fast travel >.> Then again, they'd probably screw it up somehow and you end up fast traveling 30,000ft above the strip and splatter on a hoker, and then get shunned by birds for invading their personal space.

and STOP LOCKING DOORS!
