My Eurogamer experience part 2

Post » Fri Sep 23, 2011 12:02 pm

90% of the experiance is going to be interacting with and dealing with and enjoying the NPC's of skyrim ... atleast with me its the NPC's and thier AI that will make the game or break it
i sure hope they made the NPC's not only look good but also have great inteligence and alot of unexpected things they do and say ...
i fell inlove with morrowind's NPC's because they all needed sooo much help and basicly i was able to help them and also kill the bad guys who .. after listning to them made me feel alot of realism .. oblivion's NPC's just seemed sooo repetitive and lame

i sure hope the NPC's in skyrim will be alive and realistic .. not showing all that fake happyness ... and swaying thier hands in a female fashion .. even the nords and Orcs wer kinda weak and lame

in skyrims do the NPC's look manly for the males and Feminine for the females in both thier speech and the way they talk with thier body movements?

Sorry I should have been more specific, what I mean was that in Oblivion you could cut through the mountains and get to a city in two minutes, where in Skyrim it's a lot harder to traverse the terrain.

Did it have a linear feel to it? I mean, sort of sounds like you're stuck not being able to veer off the path too much. That's actually one thing I liked about Oblivion was the freedom to travel in any direction and cut through anyway I wanted.

I think the rain sky texture looks better than in Oblivion, but the rain texture itself looks worse I think.

Strong white, cartoony rain...

The rain needs only one thing : Transparency.

Cool that is what I am looking for.

To clarify, would you say the path to get around is linear or is it easy to wonder off and get lost without hitting “obstacle terrain”? I.e. can I stray from a path in the woods and still have a lot of forest to explore until I hit a mountain that is tough to pass over?

Also, although it is tough to traverse the terrain, is it possible? I.e. when I come to that mountain that is hard to pass over, can I indeed climb it to get around it?

One last thing, when exploring, say if you were to want to climb a mountain as Todd points out in the demo, do you find your own path or is there paths laid out for the mountains?

Thank you for taking you time to share your experiences.

It's not linear at all, I got lost a lot of times, I think it's possible to climb a mountain from anywhere but some places are easier too climb than others if that makes sense. I kinda cheated my through to Falkreath, half way through I climbed a mountain and then made my way down slowly by jumping.

Could you describe Falkreath compared to Riverwood in as much detail as possible please? Did you see a lot of Points of Interest while traveling and didn't stop because of time constraints, or did you only see Riverwood, Falkreath and the dungeon?

Without a doubt, the NPCs feel unique you can see the different animations for males and females, like I said I could easily of spent my 40 minutes having a great time in the bar laughing and drinking with the NPCs listening to the bard sing and join in the fun and have bar fights. I actually felt like I was a part of the world and not the centre.

Did you see a bar fight? Was there drinking minigame in the bar? Who was the coolest looking NPC you saw?

Well Falkreath had the same building architecture as Riverwoord but it had a gloomy feeling, like I said when I first came into the town a woman told me how they're town has been going through a lot of bad times because of the civil war, I did see some interesting stuff but didn't look I think what stood out to me the most was this glowing blue tree i saw, there were giants around it.

He already said NPC animations are much better and read my last post in regards to graphical issues. Gstaff said they've made many improvements since that build.

Thanks man, and again..sorry. I skipped most of the original post cause there's just too much info for my liking, i want to go in 'fresh' , i just happened upon that graphics stuff :). I keep seeing Gstaff mentioned, but exactly who are they? No doubt a noob question ...but so be it :)

Like I said I saw a child but just walked passed him, the animations are much better and improved and the combat feels more organic now.

Again friend...i skipped alot of the info, too much spoilers for me. I know i shouldn't even enter these threads if i don't want to get spoiled..but....i can't resist. haha.

Same size as Riverwood? Did you see the waterwheel in Riverwood and did Falkreath have any water like Riverwood? See any windmills? What are your overall impressions of the water?

I didn't see any bar fights, not sure about drinking games I only spent 3 minutes in the bar, the coolest NPC I saw would have been the necromancer only because he scared me with his resurrected imperial lady, she was so creepy looking.

Could you describe the Necromancer's wardrobe and was the resurrection done with a spell, or staff?

@Moonwalked Gstaff is the community manager for Beth. I don't blame you either for avoiding most spoilers. My willpower isn't as strong!
