My Eurogamer experience part 2

Well from what I saw both the nords and Orcs had 100 hp, 100 stamina and 100 magicka, I didn't move any objects around because I was having trouble with the controls as it was (use to playing on PC) I didn't look at any other perks other than the last destruction and the two handed perk that gave you a 25 percent chance to decap (it was pretty high up the perk tree), I didn't see any other racial bonuses, I did use both the powers for my Orc and Nord and they don't feel like spells anymore but actually something extra, the NPCs felt a lot more alive than they did in Oblivion, I really felt like I could have spent the whole night in that bar with the bards and the other NPCs drinking. I only saw Orcs, Nords, Imperials, Dunmers and Redguards I'm afraid.

So you didn't see any of that children? :)

- How are NPC animations...it's not like they were horrible in Oblivion to begin with but they can and should have been improved, how is it?
- As for combat still feeling like 'hitting a tree' so to speak...this is the same as what the footage has shown so far, right?

Many thanks !!!! :tops:

The Khajiit in Tokyo also had 100 HP (100 Magicka and 100 Stamina I'm not 100% sure right now) so I conclude that the choice of the race does not determine the beginning values ??of health, stamina and magicka.

In other words, every race (male or female PC) will start with 100 HP, 100 MP and 100 SP.

The shadow was grainy BUT like I've said the TV was terrible! so I'm not going to make any final judgments on the graphics until release now. The AI has vastly improved. The framerate was smooth even when I had myself, 3 guards, the prisoner and 2 wolves and anyone from Oblivion knows that's quite a lot of characters in one screen, however like I said I did watch someone who did have a slow frame rate but it only lasted 8 seconds and then sorted itself out. The overall sound quality was fantastic even though I was only using headphones, unfortunally this build didn't seem to have music, I tried turning it up in the options but didn't hear anything.

Hey thanks for replying, very kind of you to share your experience with us :goodjob:

A continue of the previous post, ask any questions you like.

one question i have is

what was your overall "including everything" decision about the game? was this something you would say "WOW i LOVED THE GAME?"
or "hey this was good!"
or "man i was kinda let down after seeing what skyrim really was like"???

What about power attacks, i saw a video of power attack with axe and the range was very very short, and also do different weapon have different effects like bleed, stun and stuff like that?

Did you go underwater? If so, can you describe what you saw? Under the sea feels more lifelike than Oblivion?

I didn't see any vampires, I'm sure somebody else has though, the novice setting felt balanced, not too easy and you will certainly die if you muck around but not impossible at the same time. The stats and journal are in the same window but in different tabs. Once the door opened it automatically [censored] again. Armors looked incredible and not stiff at all. I never played with conjuration since I only had a restoration and destructive spell. I only saw one child buy didn't pay any notice I'm afraid.

On a scale of 1-10, ten being amazing I give it a 9, but this is hardly accurate I only had 40 minutes to play it, it was an early build and it wasn't on a system that I'm comfortable with. But I adored the game, like I said despite the flaws I saw I managed to ignore it and was still stunned whilst playing with it. The power attack was a lot of fun, range wise I did notice one power attack which allows you character to lunge towards the NPC, I did only try the long sword and greater iron sword which was a 2H sword, which had a lot more powerful feeling than a 1H sword. I didn't really check underwater, I only saw the underwater cave from someone else playing.

Can you elaborate in detail on, "One thing is that you cannot cut through like in Oblivon."

No splash effects from rain? Wow, rain really hasn't improved one bit since Oblivion. What a disappointment, considering that all other games have done major improvements here, and fixed the simple collision issue many, many years ago.
When I think about it, I think rain even has gotten worse from Oblivion. The white rain texture looked really cartoony and bad in the demo.

Of course, assuming that the white rain texture was in the rain you saw as well. Vixulation can you confirm if the rain texture was the same white one as in the demo?

Sorry I should have been more specific, what I mean was that in Oblivion you could cut through the mountains and get to a city in two minutes, where in Skyrim it's a lot harder to traverse the terrain.

He means that you just can't run in a straight line between two points on the map.

It's the exact same as what you saw in the demo, I agree the rain wasn't all to great, in fact it was kinda annoying like it was in Oblivion, argh I bet I sound so negative right now but I'm just giving my opinion of what I saw. I don't want too lie and say the game was perfect and has no fault but don't judge the game until we see the retail version because the build I played was a lot worse than the one Todd played.

Thanks again. What was the censor for though? That's weird. Anyway, what other stats were available besides bounty and did you come across many POI's on the compass? Like a lot of dungeons, or was it more spread out then Oblivion? What were your overall impressions of the mountains and did you see any paths and/or caves connected to them? Did you see any snow? Thanks again

Okay, thanks for confirming.

I probably sound pretty negative myself, but I don't really care. It's about giving your honest opinion that matters, so thanks for doing that :)
Appreciated!

Honestly, as I said before, I'd even say that rain has become worse since Oblivion. Don't know what to say...

Nothing that a pretty little mod can't fix, assuming rain still svcks in the retail version ;)

Vixulation I have another question. It has been mentioned that NPCs no longer instantly disappear when going through cell-doors. They now open the door and then disappear into thin air.

My question is: did you see an NPC go through a cell-door like this? When the NPC opened the cell-door, what did you see? Was there a black hole, or something?

I'm curious because its seperate cells and no information is loaded between them...

@The Worl Eater. The only thing mods will be able to fix easily is the rain texture. I'm probably gonna do that myself the day I get the game. It should be really easy; just change the color and save. It would make a big difference I think. I thought rain looked much better and natural in Oblivion.

that was odd, the only other stat I noticed was "discovered locations", while I wasn't really paying attention too what was on the compass I did notice one thing, find the entrances to dungeons aren't in your face like they were in Oblivion, I did actually have to look around to find the entrance, I didn't really go high up but I did see one person go really high on the mountains and there was a nice snow brewing with a gorgeous view of Whiterun below and I swear on Sithis that I thought at that moment "now there's a great desktop wallpaper for my PC" , there were more hidden smaller pathways to caves.

You're welcome, I meant that it was harder to aim and hit, it's the same as 3rd person combat in Oblivion, no matter what this game is really a 1st person game. With the rain what I mean was that it goes through walls when you're outside, for example if you're under a bridge outside and it's raining, the rain still goes through the bridge, I also looked on the floor and there was no splash effect on the ground from the rain drops. Don't quite understand what you mean by that.

A bummer. Red Dead could do all of this and they tried so hard to mimic many parts of Red Dead's success.

It really does seem like a simple thing to do
