Even the Lone Wanderer had friends...

I haven't seen a post on this yet, but maybe I just haven't looked hard enough.

I wonder what kind of companions our new hero/heroine will have to keep them company during the dark strolls through tunnels abandoned by all except feral ghouls. Who will be the ones helping us dismantle an entire raider operation located in a super market in the span of ten minutes?

We saw in the trailer and the reveal that we'd at least have a K-9 friend to rely on, but will Bethesda stick with their patented 8 permanent companions, or will there be more?

What kind of characters do you guys want to be teamed up with?

I'd personally be happy if I could train a feral ghoul to be my own personal killer pet, of course.

I think it would be cool to find a pre-war ghoul U.S. Army Veteran who knew you before the war, that would be pretty cool. I hope that with the addition of settlements you may be able to get disposable followers which would be pretty neat too.

Hopefully a blind deaf mute. Or similar companion of uselessness like getting in the way of shooting things

A great point! I'm hoping the settlements will also produce unique character models every time, and perhaps moderately voiced ones to keep you company. Hopefully Bethesda doesn't employ the same five voice actors though.

Hopefully whatever followers we do get, they actually have some substance and opinions, they're not hollow fools like in F3. NV followers, although I didn't use them too much except for their own unique quests (which should be a thing too in F4,) they had substance and opinions.

Yeah what i'm hoping for, i disliked how generic the skyrim followers were. I'd rather have four fully fleshed out companions with quests and personality than 40 copy and pasted meat shields

Agreed, I want to hear their thoughts on the things we're doing, I want some intelligent conversation, and of course I want them to have personalities that stand out on their own. I don't think that's too much to ask given Bethesda's background and the next-gen way of doing things.

A grown up Biwwy

A sentry bot/Mr. Gustsy with their proper Fallout 3 voices and not those god-awful NV versions.

Bittercup

Any random hobo. I'm sure in real life Mickey or Carlos would love to follow me and get lots of purified water rather than waiting outside town hoping someone would help them.

A ridable Yao Guai, that requires 6 Charisma and 2 ranks of Animal Friend.

Some kind of genetically modified saber-tooth tiger

Al Chestbreach(hire the guy Bethesda)

A Magnaguard looking droid

The power helmets the BoS wears remind me a lot of the Empire/Republic. So it would be nice to have a Boba/Jango Fett styled companion with special power armor and a jetpack.
