Ever cheat on tests when you were/are in school?

Post » Wed Dec 29, 2010 10:29 am

I can answer this one, lots of sciencey stuff, and it's also useful for general DIY stuff, saves so much time instead of trying to do stuff by eye.

Though that may be true, how many of us are going to become super scientist...?

Just out of interest, when did you use triganometry. What do you do for a living?

I ask because I promptly forgot it thinking I'd never need it.....and I've been right up to this point. :)

Very basic trignometry (triangles, angles, sides, SohCahToa) is very usefull if you plan on building anything. Anything more complicated I can see being forgotten, but some of it is very useful. Really helps knowing what angles you need to cut at if you are building something in your backyard.

Yea the basic stuff. I just retained most of it, haven't used it frequently. Good to know I can do it if needed though. Mainly in small little projects building/measuring stuff, like others have said. I also had to help a friend re-learn it. I don't use it on a professional basis, but with some practice could.

Yeah some of that basic stuff of trigonometry can be very, very useful I agree. But for some subjects that I just knew I'd never ever need to know for the future, like freaking World Literature (I.Will.Never.In.A.Million.Years.Need.To.Know.About.Romeo.And.Freaking.Juliet), I just cheated my way through. Not particularly proud of it, but I needed that extra time after school to finish more important work.

Never on test/finals(though I was normally the one being cheated off of by others). Now...for homework that was usually always easy I just didn't want to do....weeeeeeellll......I may have compared answers with friends before turning my work in and by compared answers I mean "Hey I didn't do questions 1 through....all of them, let me see yours"

Not in finals, or O / A levels, or anything serious that I could get in deep trouble for, but in school tests, sure. All the time. Teachers call it cheating, but we call it brotherhood.

Haha amen to that...
I've cheated alot before, but only if the person who i'm cheating off of is okay with it

Nothing important, just small quizzes and what not on the rare occasion. However, if I notice someone cheating off of me, I let them.

I've worked on homework with friend's in High School. Usually we'd..."check our answers" by looking at a maths genius' work.

When I was in Year 12 the Senior Science kids managed to get hold of their Trial HSC (sort of the 2nd last major exam in High School) after the teacher put it in the student folder rather than the hidden staff folders. Once someone found it within a day everyone knew the answers to the entire test. Then of course one of the 'smart' and 'perfect' girls told the teacher and ended up becoming a pariah for most of the remaining year.

Of course I did not do Senior Science so I am completely blameless and have never cheated ever. :)

I would rather fail with honor than win by cheating.

But seriously, I'm failing one of my classes this year (Visual Basic) because I got behind and didn't study due to emotional issues and health issues I've been and still am going through (MASSIVE run-on thar). Do I wish I had cheated? No. Do I regret not doing well? Yes and no. Yes in the sense that I would like to make good grades on everything, yet no because even though I'm failing, I learned how to program, which is more than I could say this time last year. :)

I sometimes sneak a peak at my neighbors answers in my math class when I'm to the point of pulling my hair out because of a question. But not often.

Sure, why would I waste my time studyin' for my lesser classes? I always planned on goin' to college to study Veterinary Medicine, but my high school wanted me to be a "well read scholar" so they had me take classes in poetry. I wasted quite a bit of time in those types of classes, but I was not about to let my GPA suffer because of those lesser classes. So, I cheated in order to get an "A" and I don't regret it.

"Psssttt...Mike! Whats the answer to #4?"

"BLAAAAAARG!"

I've never cheated on a test or on homework. I have, however, had the power to, uh, "lend" some "paper" to those in need of it. A service which I in retrospect should have charged others for. I could have become a millionaire.

yeah... on PE, of all subjects. don't remember if the test(or tests)(and i think i cheated on more than one of them) were key to a passing grade in that class. if they were, i wonder if that means i failed the course... thus not completing HS graduation requirements... which would mean i don't even have a valid HS diploma... hm, no wonder i can't get a normal job. does this mean i have to re-take HS PE, validate my HS diploma... sigh, cheating seemed like a acceptable idea then... well, no, i had my reservations about cheating, but i think i convinced myself that at that particular case it was, *gulp* *feel wrong to even say this now*, justifiable.

I was about to say "No, I was a good kid!", then I remembered Art. I never was very good at art, didn't have any talent nor inclination. Come the end of the final year, we were each given a sheet of paper and asked to write down the scores for all the art pieces we'd done.

Now, I didn't have a clue, and I hadn't even done most of them, so I did what every sensible person would do and wrote down "A" for every piece, knowing the teacher would see it, laugh, and then give me something I deserved like an F. That didn't happen, I got an A.

Not on tests.

I'm sure I pissed off some people though. What with my not studying or paying attention and acing everything.

Same here. Slept in class, never studied, got 90+ on all my tests.

Homework is another story.... I just never felt like doing it. :snoring:

Not intentionally. There was that one where I reached the end and thought, "Well that was unusually easy. If calculators hadn't been allowed it might have been a challenge... " -check the cover page of the test- "Oh...". I decided not to muddy the waters and mention my mistake, as it wasn't an important test anyway.

Although I did once write a report with phony citations. Real books, but I never read them. Ironically, it was a report on ethics.

Yes and no

I used my book to answer questions/check questions on the final test of my chemistry 1 class in college. Best part was the professor allowed it which I guess doesn't make it count as cheating. Don't think i've really ever cheated except maybe once when I finished a math test. Teacher didn't notice me or she didn't really care so it's hard to say.

Not in any major tests like GCSE's or A-Levels, but yes, occasionally when I was younger I think. I love how patronising some of the members are here.
