Ever had cities whipped out?...

Post » Wed Nov 06, 2013 3:16 pm

For those who don't know by now, I had bought a plot of land from the Jarl of Falkreath, and I always go back and forth to the town to get supplies for renovation. In the hours doing this, 2 dragon attacks had occurred. The first one killed Runil, who was in my miscellaneous list of quests. I had to deliver something to him. The dragon killed him and I failed the task :(

The second attack killed Lob the smith and Narri, the girl who works at the inn. She kept calling me handsome so it made me sad for her death :\

So far 3 people have died, and the city feels a bit empty, since Falkreath is quite small. Any of you guys had an experience when a whole city was whipped out?

Fortunately not me. But a few folks have. Only the essentials remained. That's why I always save before I enter cities.

Let's just say that the Dragons were the ones to find it empty... :whistling:

Riverwood, but it was because of the bounty glitch. Everyone but the guards attacked me when I entered the town on my way to Lakeview. Everyone that attacked me died. I ended up leaving it that way on that character. I don't think I would do it again. But that particular character was rather evil and cared little for the lives of others.

Yes, I've also had inhabitants wiped out by Cultists of Vampires triggered by Dawnguard and Dragonborn. When I play I usually don't plug in those expansions until 'Im ready to actually do them.

Regarding Dragons, on most characters I usually don't even trigger the part of the main quest which makes them spawn.. I fall in the camp that finds repeated Dragon attacks quite annoying!

Nope. A few unlucky NPCs have died but they were of no importance. Windhelm suffers a lot from dragon attacks and farmers outside are usually the victims. However, I've only lost two. A random miner at Markarth was killed by vampires during Dawnguard, but of course, it was a miner so no major loss. I was surprised that I didn't lose many NPCs during Dawnguard as people claimed.

Nah, in all the time I've played Skyrim, I've only had a dragon attack within a village less than a handful of times and when it did happen, only myself and guards were involved. No innocent lives were ever taken. I've actually never seen a dragon attack a closed city; only open villages.

Vampires killed Adrianne on my first playthrough, and that svcked, but nothing's happened ever since.

That increases your chances of random vampire / dragon attacks. If you walk the country side you get to experience some of the different radiant encounters. Nord women, Thieves, DB Assassins, witnessing patrols of Thalmor and Stormcloaks dueling, etc.

I do. When its to Whiterun, I FT to Pelagia Farm or the Stables. Either way, I save before I enter a city.

I said that wrong. I walk everywhere to places that are not discovered. I've encountered 3 assassins, 2 hired bandit groups, Nord woman, Old Orc, and pretty much everything else in this playthrough. Saves me time to FT from Lakeview to Falkthreath is all :P

Ah I walk or ride everywhere. It's a pain sometimes but it's really rewarding when I'm spamming Aura Whisper and I find a thief 100 yards ahead of me hiding in the bush. Nail him with a paralyze poison sneak attack and walk up slowly and finish him off with an arrow into the face.

My favorite fights are the patrol fights though. That or witnessing a bunch of bandits fighting trolls etc.

I've seen one incident where a whole city 'whipped out', but they were all arrested for indecent exposure. Haaaaaaaaa....

I wish this was the case for me. Dragon attacks seem to be a 50/50 occurrence every time I FT to a city, open or closed. Dawnstar is more like 99% occurence. Adrianne is usually the first victim for my friends, with me it's always Eorlund... though I've never actually seen him die. He just 'shows up' in the cemetary, normally I fail to notice and 'save him to death'. So annoying :(

This is your culprit.

Besides... Falkreach is just down the street.. relatively speaking to the whole of Skyrim.

My character doesn't fast travel, is level 23, and has only seen two dragons. I fast traveled once, because I wanted to do this one thing before going to work... and now I can't buy a horse in Whiterun.

On an old character, Riverwood was down to 2 children and 1 chicken! Anyone whose schedule led them outside, or who was not essential was dead...To this day...I still wonder just how tough that lone chicken was.

No, never.

I don't lose NPC's.

For dragons I carry a very strong poison made with the fortify restoration loop and vampire attacks are incredibly easy to avoid.

I don't have Dawnguard, so random vamp attacks are not an issue. I had most of Riften's merchants die when they attacked Brynelf with me (because he was essential) but I reloaded. Thought it wasn't a legitimate fight because they could die and he couldn't.

Another time, Riften got decimated by a dragon, but I didn't keep that game. When I replayed it, only the Argonian jewelry seller died. Too bad, I liked him. :(

Yes fast travel definitely contributes to unwanted vampire issues without a doubt. I also seem to meet way too many dragons whenever I use FT as well.

Never had an entire town wiped out, one character lost 3 NPC's to dragon attacks (Lami, Alvor and Sigrid), and and two to vampire attacks (Edda and Balimund), would have been a lot more without replaying some of the fights. I often lost NPCs to dragons in Solitude, Riften, Windhem and especially Falkreath, but still I never lost all the ones that could have died, I always reloaded and tried for a better result. None of my other characters had any problems, they were not dragon magnets. In the end I avoided Falkreath with that character since every visit would spawn at least two dragons, I was never that much into fighting anyway, and so many epic battles did nothing to improve things. I made the mistake of returning to Falkreath a few times in the hunt for elusive goat horns and had to get rid of three dragons each time, I left Falkreath as the last option for the things each time. That character on the Xbox 360 has not returned, he never will.

On the PC he is happily exploring all those places he avoided for so long, I threw the towel in and installed a couple of mods to fix the problem. He only fights dragons now if he actually goes looking for one. The dragons might be waiting a while.

I never fast travel, but I did manage to wipe out a good chunk of Falkreath's citizenry by riding into town one morning just as everyone was walking to work. A dragon landed right in the middle of town and everybody attacked it with their fearsome iron daggers and lack of armor. I tried to kite it away from town, but with so many people to fight right there, I could barely get it to pay any attention to me. By the time the dragon was dead, so was Mathies, Narri, Thadgier, Bolund, and Lod. Not exactly the entire city, but a good portion of those you regularly see. I don't go back there much anymore.
