It would seem that few people actually read posts and just respond to them when they feel they are insulted. I will make one post on this and that's it, so as to not bring out the Ban Hammer.
I never, not one time, disparaged anyone or claimed to be an elistest who doesn't like "Casual Gamers". I am a "Casual Gamer" at times. Sometimes I love picking up a game, playing it and then putting it down for something else, nothing whatsoever wrong with that.
What I am is a TES fan, a TES fan that loved how complicated and complex Daggerfall was and to some extent Morrowind. That complexity was taken away in Oblivion to bring in more fans. In my opinion, that was a mistake. The devs decided to make the game more "Casual Friendly" and in the process made many mistakes. Since we are talking about the devs listening to what game players say, my only point was that I think the "Casual" game players, those who want a more simplistic game, was listened to a little too much. Again, that is my opinion based on me playing the game through, twice.
I will be buying Skyrim on release day, no matter what they decide to do. My only comment was that RPG fans, in my opinion, were not listened to enough. I think that more hard core suggestions would not be listened to because it would be too cumbersome for the "Casual Gamer". The quest compas for example, I have a feeling that will be a permanent feature in TES games in the future. Why? "Casual Gamers" wanted help in getting to where they wanted to go. Too many people couldn't following the instructions to find Casius in Morrowind. That isn't elitism, that's fact based on the forum posts that I read when Morrowind was released. Too many people had problems finding the puzzle box in Morrowind. That's a fact. That is where the quest compas came from, I would bet a copy of Skyrim on it.
So, please READ my posts before calling me an elitist. The things I talk about are facts, backed by the forums and the posts that are on them. I'm not calling out anyone, I'm saying I want a more complex RPG and any suggestions about making it more complex will fall on deaf ears. That is a shame.
