No, I didn't wonder what all that .38 ammo was made for.
Why would I? It's for using as currency given there aren't any decent weapons that use it.
All the ammo and even the weapons we see ingame aren't necessarily all prewar. We had reloading benches in NV ourselves, and there must be some manufacture going on back west which would filter through. The Commonwealth in general seems much more reused and functioning than in DC, where a lot of the time you were the first person to enter a building in centuries.
This game lacks weapons bad. I hope one of the DLC's adds a ton more weapons. Otherwise once the GECK drops the modders are going to have a field day adding weapons to the game that should've been in it from the get go.
Especially the Chinese Assault Rifle. How is it the game has a pre-war sub with a Chinese officer whose been ghoulified and still has a crew of feral ghouls who were once not ghouls and there been absolutely no Chinese Assault rifles anywhere?
Beth, you failed.
I have tons of it. lol
Maybe I should buy Arturo's shop with it and take over.
From a gaming standpoint its so you have something to shoot an enemy with.
Maybe its some magical gun that was everywhere standard that disintegrated sometime in those 200 years. lol
I was using it for trading currency I had a ton of it the plays I never used piped guns.
Everyone has a breaking point for suspension of disbelief. Just because the problem existed before is no reason to have to accept it now. I see his point, and do sympathize. But I have a three year old now. My time to play is very limited. I choose to ignore these things more now because of this. But that doesn't mean it isn't a problem. A small problem, true.
I wouldn't mind seeing more pre war weapons but only in locked up places or pre war areas that haven't been opened in the game world.
It would have been good to add a few more pre war guns, or even change the random loot tables for those kinds of areas to reflect the "pre war" surrounding.
Like .44s could have been found in those areas, combat armor, etc just things that don't seem off. When your the first person in that area since 200 years ago you should probably not be seeing raider gear and cheap pipe weapons.
But random loot is random so meh. I didn't really notice this at all till I saw this thread lol, but it makes sense.
I chalk it up to most of the pipe weapons either already being .38 caliber, or easily converted to .38. Either way I, like many have already posted, use .38 ammo as trade for the ammo I use most frequently, 10mm and .308. I also sometimes stock up on gauss rounds and .44 ammo as well just in case I decide to switch primary weapons.
Federal supply cache 84NE for example. I found a pipe weapon in this location. It's a locked bunker in the Glowing Sea, there is no way a random wastelander has wandered into this site, put his pipe pistol into a chest, and then walked out. It'd just be more realistic to me if instead of a pipe pistol, I found an old dilapidated m-1 Garand type gun.
Thats no excuse for poor world building. All the other Fallout games had realistic, crappy guns that were pretty much just created to use a certain ammo type, why couldnt Bethesda do the same with Fo4
The Combat Rifle and the Pipe weapons can be rechambered in different calibers at the weapon bench. I have a Combat Rifle(named BAR) rechambered to fire .38 rounds, and another Combat Rifle(named Sniper Rifle) rechambered to fire .308 rounds.
Pipe weapons can be rechambered to fire .45 rounds.
Why not just start a whole chain of weapons stores and then buy him out. If everybody can get guns from you or cricket, whats the point in making the trip all the way to Diamond City?
I thought it was modeled after a .32 cap Walther PPK
Right. I think I have more gun shop chains more than any sellers out there.
How else am I supposed to make money selling all this water, and jet, while also being able to spend caps feeding my plasma thrower? It would be so cool if your shops could actually have quests. Either you work with the Diamond City or Bunker Hill merchants to supply you, or you run all competition out of business, and eventually they all close down, no one comes to the settlements, no economy, Bunker hills and Diamond City join the minutemen and let you have full reign of the city since you control all the money....
If there's business running feature, there will be war between me, Arturo, Cricket, Lucas, etc.
It's going to be real bad gang war between my settlers and their caravan guards/hired mercenaries. LOL
Break into Arturo's house and murder him right in front of his little girl, cut off his head with a machete then throw it at the kid like you just kicked a soccer ball and scream "GOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL"
