Every time someone proposes mods as a solution...

Abandon their games as opposed to who? What company pays more attention to their community? Gimme a break.

Oh, please. Oblivion and Fallout 3 were left behind with numerous bugs that were never fixed. The Unofficial Oblivion Patch addressed numerous issues for PC users that Bethseda never bothered with. They may well get around to addressing the ssues players complain of the most, sure, but this game will be left unfinished. Just as Oblivion and Fallout 3 were.

I guess real gamers get the good stuff.
Deal with it.

This game, much to the irk of the PC community actually (as this is one of their main complaints), is before all a console game. Out of the 5 million buyers, last I looked, 4 millions played on either Xbox 360 or PS3.

No. Mods will not fix anything. Mods are there to add, not to repair or balance. Most Skyrim players cannot afford to rely on them, because we do not have access to them!

Just my 2 cents, was going nuts :P

EDIT: Please dont let this turn into a platform war. All 3 platforms are plenty viable, and no one is smarter or dumber for playing on one over the others. We all chose according to our means/preference and thats that.

The bottom line is that this game was sold on 3 platforms, and therefore should work on all 3 just as well. Proposing mods as a solution to balance issues, or bugs/broken quests is problematic, because it is something that fixes the problem for only 1 of those 3 platforms.

Mods will fix alot, just check the other Bethesda games out (that are bugged to hell but fixed with mods).
Sure mods are there to add the "extra" things the players wants. But there are also mods that fixes bugs and whatnot. So saying that MODS are the to add, not to repair or balance is false.
Blame Bethesda for not fixing their games, it's known by alot of people that some bugs won't ever be fixed by Bethesda, small or huge. But it will most >likely< be fixed by the modding community.

It's a shame that console players can't use mods, it really is.

And you're right about all the consoles and PC = viable.

But here's what i do (this is just me and what i prefer).

PS3 = Only exclusive games or games that are NOT ported to the PS3.
Xbox 360 = Multi-platform games, since most games are made for the 360 and later on ported.
Wii = Same as PS3 i guess.

PC = Games that can and will be heavily modded, or some shooters (not all of them). And console [censored] going "i rather sit on my couch than on the chair" that's just *facepalm* Just plug your PC to the flatscreen, plug in a controller (360 or whatever you prefer) and play the game from the couch.

Just my 2 cents.

The unofficial community mods have fixed thousands of bugs and some of them not minor. Hours of having the game live on retail showed it wasnt made to run very well using PC memory and it didnt take long for simple fixes to easily improve a majority of PC users gameplay. This isnt even a mod but something that wasnt thought of by the developer as being important.

I mostly mod for myself, family and friends as they can easily get to large to handle and releasing them to the public means you have to be more professional then my knowledge allows. To me the series will always be a computer purchase because of modders. I own a console and understand that you have to make a game that best suits your customer base and am glad the company allows us to use tools to modify our game. I strongly agree with the topic title and wish the gaming industry wasnt like this but bethesda makes games that really suit a community that wants to mod them.

You've already bought their game and they have no obligation to fix the bugs but they have decided to because they care about their game and their customers.

'Not sure if ...'

They care about their bottom line. Happy customers are returning customers.

I'm more annoyed by the people don't like a feature of the game or have some tiny bug and say the game is completely and utterly broken and Bethesda needs to "fix" it RIGHT NAO or they owe them their money back and is the most horrible company on the planet.

Even if Bethesda releases a flawless game with no bugs I bet the cries of people demanding fixes would still make my ears bleed.

Additions and changes through mods? Sure, fine, go ahead.

Bug- and glitchfixes? NO! The irony of the pc version being cheaper to begin with and still getting repaired while the more expensive console versions will keep all the flaws and faults would be too much to bear. (On top of it, for technical issues, I believe it's even harder to fix stuff on PC since they're all different while consoles are all the same, basically. Same kind of consoles, of course.)

Thing is, even with mods for all versions, the devs should be responsible for fixing obviously broken content like quest bugs, for instance. It's sad enough they're such a huge problem to begin with. I wonder if the existence of the mod tools for the community is, at least to a certain degree, a reason why they even release a game with this many faults.
