Everyday Activities Blacksmith/ Woodcutter/Baker

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:20 am

What do you reckon about the jobs such as Blacksmith, wood cutter and baker unlocking special abilities. For example once you've done woodcutting you can hire the East Empire Company once you have enough materials upgrade your house or even choose to have one built at a location of your choice. Or with blacksmith being able to reinforce you armor/ shield or make horse armor, because of what you've learnt from your work experience? The idea to give your work some purpose or extra bonus. Any comments or suggestions?

Blacksmithing and cooking are completely different things, smithing is a skill with a perk tree while cooking is not a skill and has no perks. If it is a skill, such a smithing, there will surely be perks that do smething similar as to what you said. However the cooking will not have a single perk because it's not a skill. It's just something you can do.

Things like woodcutting and cooking should be minor distractions, nothing more. I don't really see why it would give you an "ability" to have your house built somewhere for you. Smithing on the other hand is a skill with a perk tree, and thus will have it's rewards.

Woodcutting probably doesn't have progression, it's simply a means to get materials, similarly mining will depend on you finding the correct ores instead of having the necessary skill to mine them. Smithing will have the same abilities as armourer and more, so repairing your armour an weapons past 100% for extra efficiency, extra durability to your tools, ability to repair magical gear. Baking might be a part of alchemy although that sounds pants-on-head stupid.

I would like it if You could Possibly add pelts to your armour, Long hours spent in Oblivion when I first killed a Wolf trying to find a way to attach them to my Iron Cuirass. Though I do like the idea of Being able to have a house placed were ever I choose, I might just go and place one in the middle of a road to piss the carriages and travellers off.
