everyday items as weapons

I agree. Most eveything in the game can be used as a weapon in real life. If I can pick up a book and whack my friend on the head with it then why can't I do that in a video game? I should be able to!

I wanna use a fork as a weapon! I just wanna run around a town forking everybody in sight! wait a second, that came out wrong...
But seriously, I want to use a scythe as a weapon, and as somebody said, a scythe would be a great daedric artifact, just thinking about how it would look, it would look cool.

I remember picking up a scythe thinking, awesome I am going to use this all the time, and was disapointed. but it would be extremly easy for them to do it this time around.

You could really sweep through the enemy with that weapon.

Using hoes and rakes and whatnot would be interesting weapons, and it would add to the immersion. I don't think scythes should be useable weapons, I think they should save that for making an awesome daedric artifact that's a scythe. :toughninja:

Like in the OB DLC? I have a heavy rake and hoe as weapons. Plus, there is also the Fork of Horripilation. I would like to see a recently used pickaxe as a weapon.

Well....

Technically each and every farming/mining/smithing/fishing tool should be a weapon, including scythes, because that use lead to a number of ancient weapons being developed. Others were obviously developed from hunting weapons.

I suppose your right in the fact that farmers would not really use fists in a fight if they had access to a scythe or other sharp farming tool. But I really dont see a point to having our character being able to use it as a weapon, because think about it how much damage can be inflicted on a dragon or other tough enemy wearing armor when alls your using in a little scythe or broom.

Yes any club like item would be better than your firsts, something with pointy edges works even better.
However a sword would work far better again.

If it so happens that we are attacked while gathering these recourses (And for some reason im extremely exited for gathering recourse for some reason, i hope tis fun :)) I think we should be able to get a first quick attack in on an enemy before pulling out your sword and turning the enemy into a bloody stump.

i used mods that did this just for the immersion, and why not, some games just have them for seemingly no damn reason, assassins creed has them for both visual and somewhat of an easter egg when you find out they are wield-able XD, and its hilarious to knock a guard off his horse with a hoe.

I think it'd be great. Giving someone a way to improvise if they ever have to go to a place that doesn't allow weapons. Or if you're a ranged character and run out of arrows you can grab some plates off the table and throw them at the guards instead. Or whatever you can get your hands on. I think the Dead Rising series utilized this.

If i could use scythe i would put on black robes and call my character Death.

Pratchett's death for the win

I think it would fit in with the Nordic settig. I want to break a chair and beat someone over the head with it's legs

i think that maybe there should be a limit on thing that can be used as weapons, and you could kind of carry a book and hit someone with the move carry botton but it wouldnt do any damage.

It's actually not much work at all, to assign random items as weapons. Granted, my experience is only with Morrowind, and the mechanics may have changed.

But all that's needed is to rotate/move the mesh a bit, and create a new weapon. I actually created throwing spoons in http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8367 mod, it was nothing.

I would love to see more makeshift weapons.

You could really sweep through the enemy with that weapon.

It would be interesting to see everyday items used as weapons. If not for the character's sake, then for the NPCs. Imagine a farmer fighting off a wolf with his hoe after he's assaulted while farming. It would make sense and be cool. And if you're a jerk attacking people, citizens with access to simple weaponry like farming implements might come after you with what they have.

Tools as weapons doesn't seem too hard to implement, but what I would like to see as well is being able to throw anything; which would probably be much harder. Basically if you can pick it up as a physics object then you can throw it for damage, distraction, insult, etc. There was a mod for this in Oblivion, but it would be cooler to see proper animations for characters holding objects and better thrown objects physics.

If players can use stuff like brooms, scythes, and pickaxes for weapons in Skyrim, I think that would be a great idea for increased in immersion; it would also take away the fact that such items in Oblivion were essentially useless and just took up data space because only NPCs were able to use them for animation purposes only. In other words, items such as brooms, bowls, and scythes served no other purpose other than for NPC animations. I don't understand why Bethesda even made such items lootable if they had no purpose for the player. Because Skyrim will feature stuff such fishing, woodcutting, and hunting, I hope Bethesda will allow items such as pickaxes and garden hoes as requirements for performing such tasks.
