Bar-Songs!
Are you serious people? the best thing about that same period of time was the viking sitting and drinking in different Inns, gathering an audience and sing heartedly! ofcourse no girly songs... but manly ones while drinking their beer! or... Mead! or whatever! think about it! Immersion!

yeah there needs to be lively taverns this time... not just the player and the barman.

have ambient crowd effects like freeside in new vegas.

have card games, brawls, basemant/rooftop fight clubs, betting, dog fights, darts, songs, dancing, lute players

I don't know. Might be a bit intrusive. We already got tavern bards. I'm okay with that for one instalment.

You know what I mean! Bars in Skyrim should be one of the most important features the game has! and you know it!
Not to mention it suits the theme of the game.

Maybe you could combine your dragon shout words into a song. If it sounds as good as the people singing in the trailer, it could impress the other patrons and earn you some coin, if any of them are still alive at the end of the performance.

This is a very good idea! Although, I don't think it should be male exclusive. Women have always had a prominent role in Elder Scrolls (like my favorite, Barenziah!) I'd like to see some of the ladies get into it. And starting a bar fight of our own would be great. If I run in to a bar and flirt with multiple guys, something bad should happen, right?

With The Witcher they (CdProjekt) did Taverns top notch (IMO); It would be neat to to see Bethesda match them without directly copying them (Is this even possible?)

In Arx Fatalis the player could get the bards drunk, and they would then play off key till they sobered up.

**Perhaps they should watch Beowulf a few times for inspiration.

And I'm sure there will be. There will be people going to work at wood mills, mines ect in the day so I'm guessing in the evening most of the towns people will be getting peshed up down the local. As for music it looks like it will be with that pic with the bard in the back ground.

haha yeah i know what you mean but it would be a nice easter egg to go into some far off bar to see a few cross-dressed lady gaga looking nords having a good time...
although slightly disturbing and would probably be a hot spot for murders for most all ALL players

Come on Bar Songs! We need the bar songs to make a richer experience in taverns.

Yes to drunken singing in bars, but also I've got a slightly different take on this.

In Dark Age times, eg Anglo Saxon and Viking, one of the main ways for ordinary people to get information/history/stories was via a bard singing about them. It seems to me to be a great way for Beth to get some old lore into the game is to have bards singing long 'lays' in the pubs/halls of Skyrim. the player would be free to listen or ignore as they see fit,

Ofcourse you can tweek it as much as you will, you can also add guys toasting to something, or different adventurers (Not necessarily townfolks) entering the bar for a drink after a long, hard journey. Maybe even singing along with everyone else. :) would be great.

Here here, I approve of the idea. Bethesda certainly have a good sense of humour in the various books in Oblivion and Morrowind :P
