Everyone saying "I can run this game on ultra"

Post » Thu Mar 27, 2014 7:00 am

Keep in mind, this game is not currently running full screen. Recommending people lower end graphics cards saying "I ran it full ultra with this card" is a little quick on the draw. Lacking full screen mode doesn't allow for hardware enhancements such as antialiasing, anisotropic filtering, and a whole slew of other graphical enhancements.

Until it is true full screen, we will not know what cards will run everything jacked up to full. For instance at 2560x1440, my 6990 crossfire struggled in certain areas dipping below 25fps (crossfire does not work). This was with no antialiasing (the in game setting does NOT work), and no enhanced filtering of any kind.

I guarantee you when this game gets a true full screen, it will be MUCH harder on your system than it currently is. Sure, you can just play it with the settings that you currently do since AA isn't even functioning, but then you aren't actually playing with full detail.

If you think the game looks good now, just wait until real full screen hits, and your hardware can take over.

Obviously doesn't pertain to you, so why comment? People on these boards are giving financial advice to people buying hardware, and it is not wise to be listening to it until the game is running to full capacity.

Thanks for pointing this out. I wasn't even aware.

This has me excited. The game is actually going to look better than beta did then?

Ehm, since when Antialias and Anisotropic filtering have anything to do with Fullscreen/Windowed?

Right. You have never run it on ultra is my point so saying you can run it on ultra without actually doing it, means you either 1. Have a great GPU or 2. Just like to troll.

I always seem to run games better in fullscreen than in windowed modes, so that's actually good news for me.

I didn't read it as helpful advice at all. I guess I misread your intent, in which case I apologize.

Since always? When you were in game you could toggle the in game AA, and it did nothing. You could go out to windows and jack that up to 32xQ and it still did nothing. The game was never full screen, it was borderless full screen. Big difference.

Ya my Radeon 7700 series runs on 25-31 FPS on ultra. [censored] is outdated now pretty much . Planning on upgrading to the R9 270. Only costs around 200 or bit more and blows mine out the water.

If you can run Crysis 3 on max settings - you can run any MMO ever made, including this one.

Thanks for pointing that out. I was impresses by how well it ran on my 3-4 year old lap top. Never dipping below 40 fps. Now i know why :)

Right. I have a good GPU. Besides, last I remember it required more of the CPU than GPU. No, I don't troll.

This is my point though. You arent actually running it on ultra. Ultra in beta was simply more "stuff" in the world. None of the actual graphics enhancements were running due to it not being a full screen mode. After they enable it (which it may already be for release) all of those AA settings will kick in, and knock down the FPS. It will look way better though.

Antialiasing is GPU. Ano filtering is GPU. Lots of hardware enhancements do not show up in the beta, which will whenever it goes true full screen. Thats my point. Lower end GPUs may not be what people are making them out to be.

I run this thread on Ultra.

The game though, I only ever ran it on very high.
I have my window wide open and my computer quickly begins to heat up my room. . . And all of the upstairs of the house, slightly exaggerated but meh.

Room gets nice and toasty, I'd hate to run the game on Ultra for a month and have my computer not turn on one day. My tin foil hat thinks I'm being weird, but my tin foil hat wouldn't be anything without me.

I can run ESO on Ultra while recording or streaming, listening to music, posting on Facebook, naked in a hot tub.

Prove what? Its basic GPU functionality. AA will not work without full screen. This game is borderless window, not full screen. Therefore, your GPU will do a lot more work when it has to actually use antialiasing. You can tell in game that it isnt working by looking at the bow string. Instead of a solid line for the string, its a jagged mess when you zoom out.
